Re: Metoffice News
UPDATE: I didn't notice Orion's message. Anyway, let's see what come back from the UKMO.
I've posted a question to the customer service team at the Met Office asking for any news about this project and pointed them to this message.
I'll post any reply.

Re: Metoffice News
They're still working on the system; I don't think it will be very long now. I've got Cumulus working with it OK on their test site, I'll need to do some final checks when they move it to the 'live' site.

Re: Metoffice News
as usual I'm a bit late to the party and I get a "Page not Found" on Orions link.
I guess they must have enough volunteers

Re: Metoffice News
I've written to the Met Office again about this service as they didn't reply to my request back in February. Hopefully they'll respond this time.
The page is still available on their website. It's turning into a bit of a shambles unfortunately.

Re: Metoffice News
I've had a reply from the Met Office. Here's what they had to say...
Thank you for your email.
The weather observers website is currently undergoing initial beta testing with a closed user group, with a view to making the beta site widely available soon. My apologies for this having taken longer than was initially anticipated, please do keep an eye on the site as it should not be too much longer before access is granted to the public.
Kind regards
Dan

Re: Metoffice News
The consultants who are developing the web site seem to have given up on me; or I've given up on them, I'm not sure which. After their initial out-of-the-blue email asking me to go a meeting in Exeter, without really explaining much, I've had sporadic correspondence with them.
They supplied me with the required protocol (virtually identical to Weather Underground) and the URL. I replied occasionally asking questions, most of which went unanswered, and then they suddenly asked me if I had written the code yet as they had beta testers waiting to use it! I asked them who these beta testers were, as I already had users who did Cumulus beta testing. No reply.
Once I had got Cumulus 1.9.1 released, I added the required code, and asked them if I could have an account on the site so that I could test it. No reply, and that's where things are at currently. The code is in there, I have no idea if it works with the site, and at some point I will want make 1.9.2 available as a beta, and the setup will become visible in Cumulus.
The site they've produced does look quite nice, to be fair. They just don't seem to very good at dealing with their unpaid co-developers.

Re: Metoffice News
Would love to know where they have picked their closed group from, also wonder if anyone on here has had the invite, and POSSIBLY been told to keep quiet about it?
