Outdoor humidity

Post by KLTatOffertonGreen »

My newly installed WH1081 indicates an outdoor humidity (68%) well below that stated at my nearest station (89%).

I have my sensor mounted in a Stevenson Screen about 5' above ground; can anyone shed any light on why there should be such a difference?

Some Fine Offset owners who had a similar problem apparently improved things by drilling holes in the sensor casing (there will be a thread here somewhere). Mine also used to read low compared to my Davis (which I trust), but right now my Fine Offset says 90% and my Davis says 72%...

If it has always been reading low from new then I would return the sensor for replacement. I've had to do this with my spare/replacement unit as it was reading low.

Thank's for the reply(s).

Just spotted one local (1 mile away) PWS showing similar humidity (76), and then one less then 1/4 mile from that showing 94%.

Have spoken to Maplin Stockport who have not had any returns, so will give the system time to 'settle' in its new location.
