Re: Are you interested in a AJAX/PHP template set for Cumulu
Paul, a few years back, I worked with Ken True in the redesign of the scripts for both canadian template sets. Although my pages are not completely bilingual, you can see the results of the bilingual templates at [link removed]. What Ken is now trying to do is great and will allow the use of the Saratoga-Weather scripts with different weather software (other than just Weather Display and Virtual Weather Station (VWS)).

Re: Are you interested in a AJAX/PHP template set for Cumulu
Hi Paul and Ray
Yes, I'm in the process of generalizing the AJAX/PHP templates originally for WD to be able to use them with multiple software packages, and Cumulus is included. The template sets come in three basic packages based on geo region:
Canada, USA, and World. The basic templates include support scripts for region specific forecasts, radar, advisories.
Then, there are weather-software specific plugins to allow the website to incorporate the weather data from your PWS.
I've adopted the $WX['...'] tag naming as TNETweather and Ray have discussed previously, and have a -defs.php file customized for each software to port some variables from the $WX['...'] to the $.... variables used by common parts used in the ajax-dashboard and ajax-gizmo provided with the basic templates. Since the various weather software packages have some items missing (in the astronomy and current-conditions-from-nearby-METAR areas), I've developed some scripts to provide missing moon/sun/season info from the USNO and other support items).
You can see a live source or variables view of the tag set. I'm currently working on a test site (currently with the VWS functions, but soon to be with Cumulus).
Feedback is very welcome
Best regards,
Ken

Re: Are you interested in a AJAX/PHP template set for Cumulu
Ken, I have been using the $WX['...'] tag naming format (from Kevin Reed of TNET Weather Station) for some time - my Cumulus is now creating (almost real time) two files which contain all the webtags available.
Should you need some people with a lot of time on their hands ... well, I am still available, and my knowledge of PHP has greatly improved...

Thanks Ray, I'll take you up on the offer when I have some release candidate packages .. it's very kind of you!
Love what you've done with your website .. it has grown quite a bit since we'd last talked.
Best regards,
Ken

Re: Are you interested in a AJAX/PHP template set for Cumulu
Ken, whenever you are ready with some basic scripts send them my way - I have Weather Display and Cumulus running on my development computer, with WeatherLink and VWS (virtual weather station) installed and ready to start...
Indeed, I spend quite a few hours every days testing/trying scripts that I get from different websites (not necessarily weather related) and thus expanding my PHP horizons...
I have spend the past days updating a PHP script to display weather information on an image of a Davis Vantage Pro2 console - almost done, and humbly, I must admit that the modified script produces results that are even closer to those produced by the console...
I might try to adapt the script to Cumulus when I am done...

Ken, you're missing a .zip extension from your Base-World package.

Re: Are you interested in a AJAX/PHP template set for Cumulu
Thanks Steve.
I've fixed the link now on the WXforum.net posting.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Cumulus plugin .. the CUtags is a $WX[...] loader, and the CU-defs.php provides the 'translation' to the WD-style variable names used in the ajax-dashboard/ajax-gizmo parts of the template set.
There's also support routines included for astronomical dates (wxastronomy page) and USNO sun/moon for one day at your lat/long.
Best regards,
Ken

I've downloaded everything and had a quick look, but I'm off to bed now; I'll have a better look at it all tomorrow, or over the weekend.

Re: Are you interested in a AJAX/PHP template set for Cumulu
Ken, I have installed all the packages but I will first setup the 'Canada' package. Since I have all four weather station software installed on my computer, I will also setup for that.
I should proceed with the setups later on Friday afternoon - I must first make some modifications on my home server XAMPP (check the newly released upgrade).
Ken, I will keep you poste as things evolved...
Ron, as I was reading the messages in the forum, I was also looking at the setup of your site. On the first clicks I got some script errors but eventually I got the proper pages (without error messages).
) may I recommend that you get the Davis Wireless Vantage Pro2 Plus with 24-Hr Fan Aspirated Radiation Shield weather station - that is the one I got some 6 years ago (and not problem whatsoever). I know this is the most expensive package, but then, everything is included.

Ron, remember that the UV and solar sensors are only available for the Vantage Pro2 weather station (and not for the Vantage Vue weather station). If you are going to ask (or even beg) for a new weather station for Christmas (you know that Christmas is an 'eternity' from nowronwestnz wrote:I must say i am envious of the Davis weather station people, must see if i can have one for Christmas.
