Help with WH1080 and Easyweather 6.2

Post by HughCallaway »

Hi, I need some help and I'm hoping this forum is the right place. I know I'm not asking a question about Cumulus but this seems the only place on the net that might help.

When I set up the kit about a week ago it generated a rain reading of 25.8mm. As I was setting this up in the house I thought it would just sort itself out, but it didn't and now my total rain reading starts from a base of 25.8mm rather than zero. I have tried what it says in the manual to clear the memory of the unit and this seems to work but in the software it still starts from 25.8mm. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Hugh

You should dump EasyWeather and use Cumulus. EW is an appalling piece of software

Have to echo Daj here i am afraid, not the answer your looking for, but i spent weeks trawling the net for better software, and not looked back. Everything about Cumulus is a thousand times better than Easyweather

The rain data seems to be held in the transmitter unit, so you will need to reset it by removing the batteries for a minute or so. This may solve it for you, but if not you will need to find and edit the data files on the computer.

Not many of us have looked into where Easyweather holds it's data. Once we tried Cumulus there was no going back, not even for those of us that only want to store the data and look at a nice display on the screen. If you have not done so, you should take Cumulus for a test drive. It's sleek, powerful, and has the best support I've ever seen.

In Easyweather click Record, History, Clear data, Clear memory
Then wonder why you are using It at all
Cumulus is so much better

You do not need to uninstall easy-weather just don't have it running at the same time as cumulus
easy-weather is also needed if you wish to change the log interval of the station as its default is 30mins

Hi Hugh and u other guys.

Sorry, i must defend EW.

So, you had a problem with bad data. Its not ad EW problem, I'll bet, but a problem with the sensor being shook, giving false data.

Easily fixed. Just edit the data. It lives in the PC, EW data area. It will also STILL be in the console so you could reset that.

Correct the data using CSV Edit (free) or Excell.

Cumulus is brilliant but EW does a job. I run Cumulus 24/7 but keep EW as backup DATA store.

Good luck with the new system and call if you need more help.

Don't forget though, that you have backupdata with Cumulus, and it's VERY easy to backup that data too, sorry, if you want to just "look" at your own data then fine, use Easyweather, but if you want to expand on it, and share it, then EW pales into insignificance compared to Cumulus, but hey, everyone has an opinion and there entitled to it :D

I think it's very sensible to run the software that came with the station periodically to download the logger contents. I did it myself with my Davis for a while, but eventually I just couldn't be bothered.

I agree, the only job EW does is allow you you change the logger interval, apart from that I haven't yet found what job it can do over and above Cumulus.

Same here. I used EW for a month or two before I discovered Cumulus but after that just once more to set the logger interval on my second console.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.
