Strange occurrence - 696 minute logging interval.

Post by jim-easterbrook »

I had a strange event with my weather station today. I don't use Cumulus, so this is probably irrelevant to most of you, but it might be of interest.

Between 05:37 and 05:42 this morning my software became unable to read from USB for some reason. I restarted it (logging in remotely from work) but it still wasn't able to read from USB. When I got home I unplugged the USB connection briefly. This sorted things out.

Now the strange part: my weather station's logged data contains one record with a 'delay' of 696 minutes! Truncation to 8 bits meant it appeared as 184 minutes, but adding 512 was necessary to remove obvious steps in the data. (I temporarily modified my logging software to adjust the exceptional value.)

I've never seen anything like this before, but it appears that it is possible for the USB port to interfere in some way with the weather station's normal logging. This is slightly worrying.
