Making Fine Offset base station wireless

I just got the Maplin version of the Fine Offset weather station and think it is great. However due to where the missus let me hang the base station it isn't anywhere near my PC. At the moment I have it off the wall and plugged into either my desktop or the netbook.
At all other times like when I am at work it will be on the wall.

What I was wondering if any bod there has any knowledge of anything I can plug into the USB port that will allow it to become a wireless device so it will be seen by my router and thus my PC to make it less of a hassle to connect.

I "imagine" that this would be a no, because, say for example bluetooth, or wireless connection, either of which would need some sort of software already in the unit to transmit that way, have you thought of a USB extension cable?

If price is not a barrier, then you might look at something like a Wireless USB Hub. One example is the Belkin Wireless USB Hub 4 Port, $202 (US). Place the wireless HUB near your weather station receiver, connect to it using a USB cable, then plug the wireless USB adapter into your computer's USB port.

There are USB Network USB Hubs available, have a Google.

I have a Belkin USB Network Hub (not wireless) and made it wireless by connecting an Access Point to it to connect to my wireless network. My point being that the FO console worked fine through it.

Well it should work if it does what it says on the tin. However, it is totally 'stand-alone' so won't be using an existing wireless network. It looks like this one uses radio frequencies (I may be wrong), so be aware that other members have had problems with other 'wireless' devices i.e. music streaming systems interfering with the frequency of your wireless weather station sensors and the base station.

Wireless networking can often be flaky. Wires, pipes, radiators etc. can all affect the signal.

The one I posted how do you mean standalone? I was under the impression that it effectively tagged a wifi adaptor onto an existing non wifi device so should connect to my BT home hub like my internet radio.

Anyway for the time being I'll just have to move it around until the pennies come free.

Oh and going O/T how do you add that wunderground image to you sig? I copied and pasted my info into my signature but too many characters.

To me that says it has nothing to do with an existing WiFi network. Also the package comes with two devices, one for the PC and one for the remote USB device, meaning it will be standlaone i.e. independant of an existing Wifi.
