Especially those in Queensland area, hoping you stay safe, and the waters subside quickly, best wishes for the road to recovery for all of you, been through a serious flood myself, so i know how unpleasant it is.

Yes indeed! Good luck to you all :) I saw the pictures on the TV, looks absolutely dreadful. My heart goes out to you. We've had flooding in the sheds but not in the house - that must be appalling!

Thanks guys. I myself am not in Queensland, but my parents are. The floods will not be easing up anytime soon.
I was just reading the paper today about Cyclone Tracy we had here in Darwin, X-mas 1974 (Cyclone season now, and one a low just formed 300km away....I had a reading of 998.4hpa). The paper interviewed some locals that were in it (I was 1 yo and flown out before hand). They said they rushed home to see the roof ripped off (the wind speed reached 280kmph before it got ripped apart). They hudled inside with their children and they had to keep checking the children weren't falling asleep because the water level reached up to chest height in the house! The mum had to keep feeling the babies head (in the dark) to make sure it stayed above the water line. They were without power for 4 months. There wasn't a leaf left on any tree (what was left of trees anyhow). We have a monument here a Casuarina Senior College of the power poles that were bent around like pipe cleaners. 74 people died.
