Two webcams required?

I just want to confirm that it takes two cameras to FTP images to say WeatherUnderground and to also have a live video stream.

Is this how most people do it?

Paul, how do you take photos and do live streaming at the same time?

With Expression Encoder 4 Pro it completely takes over the camera and doesn't allow me to do anything with it.

Yawcam allows you do do this, but I haven't been able to get the stream through my firewall, not that I've tried very hard.

Thanks for the recommendation. I really like Expression Encoder's ability to do IIS Live Smooth Streaming.

No worries, I haven't used that. It looks as if PaulMy uses yawcam too.

THX,
As Phil, I do use Yawcam. After a few months of successful Ftp to Weather Underground, in July there was a temporary outage at Weather Underground and then I wasn't able to get it to upload due to ftp error (WU and web search could not suggest a remedy). I instead set up the stream link on my website and that worked fine. Recently went to wireless router and since then the webcam stream can still be viewed from anywhere except from my home network (not from my home network's computers, one of which is connected to the Logitech 9000) but that is no serious issue. At the same time I decided to again check into why I could not Ftp to WU and searched for the error and there was one clue about the image array setting. Went into Yawcam Ftp settings and in Image array changed the default from the top selection to the bottom "I want to include the date and time in the file name". Then all was fine, until I had to shut down and reboot the computer yesterday and soon found the webcam stream not working. Checked the Image array and found it had defaulted back to the first selection so changed that and now ok again. Links to WU showing webcam is on the 'My Weather Underground' link on website. Sorry for the long winded response, but there may be some help to others in this.

Edit:

Yawcam allows you to send to File, Ftp, Http and Stream via an IP address. The only thing I really understand is the File save but have been able to trial and error enough to get the others to work.

Phil, You probably need to do some port forwarding on your router. I might have a play here and see what I come up with.

EDIT: Looks like if you have UPNP enabled the port forwarding is automatically set up by yawcam. I have successfully viewed me very basic streamed video viewed with my iPhone on 3G data. Worked a treat.

YES, another boundary at the "G" go Watson. Oh dear, Watson LBW. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

Thanks Gerard

I haven't been able to find an "enable UPNP" option in my router so I suspect it doesn't support it. I have tried port forwarding for both TCP and UDP on the recommended ports - 8081 and 8888 from memory, but still no luck. I even put my PC on the other side of the firewall for a short period of time to see if that made any difference, but it didn't, so I've temporarily put that on in the "too hard" basket. ;)

EDIT: oops cancel that part about UPNP enabling, I have found it and it was already enabled, so I must have set that when i forst tried to get this working. That said I'm still not having any luck though. :(
