Every morning around nine I go out and measure the snow depth. I enter it in the diary and it shows up in the web tags OK.

Here is the problem: when I check my web page before nine, yesterday's snow has mysteriously disappeared (ah well, a glance out of the window proves that wrong). Did I misunderstand the concept? Is there a work-around for the snow melt after midnight?

The <#snowdepth> web tag gives today's snow figure, so after midnight, it gives zero until you enter today's figure. I'm not really sure what else I can make it do, particularly as the whole snow depth thing is a bit of a hack anyway. I never intended it to be 'read back' by software in this way.

If you want a figure that persists until you change it, it might be better to hard code it into your web page, and edit that instead of (or as well as) entering it in the diary.

Another option you might want to consider would be to use <#currcond>.

But I suppose it would make sense for <#snowdepth> to give yesterday's figure, before 0900.

Yeah, I was thinking along the same line. As you say it's a hack anyway ... so why not make it even more so

I made a table like this and just do entries as needed:

It means you have to edit it by hand after each snowfall, but thats ok with me.

Better yet, if you can have web tags with parameters, why not display the last entered value in the form <#snowdepth format=" last measured on dd mmm">. Unfortunatelly there is no timestamp in the log.xml file, so you can't have: format=" last measured on dd mmm hh:mm"

I realize that this web tag is not a priority for a lot of Cumulus users, especially since the values have to be entered manually. However, when you have snow on the ground for 5+ months every year, it is a major part of your weather data.

I like this, I have something similar and last season used the <#currcond> tag for daily snow.
About the diary entries, like what I read earlier post, is there a way for the day to be highlighted or something
indicating an entry for that day?

No, sorry. It's a standard Windows component and doesn't have that facility.
