Synewave, I'm a novice website creator (I use the term loosely) and administrator for two sites. I'm in the process of improving the reliability and appearance of these sites. The first change was to find a replacement for WeatherLink and it is Cumulus. It has gone a long way towards my reliability goal, thanks Steve for a great product. The appearance end is enhanced by the standard Cumulus templates and while customizing the code I've learned a lot about HTML. This brings me to your sites, especially "Great College Street Weather" and especially your gauges. I was wondering if you have made available the templates? Thanks to Steve, you and all the other contributors for your posts on the forum.

Hi Steve (f4phlyer),

I'm glad you like the gauges. I assume you mean the ones you see if you are using FF browser? If you use IE you'll get automatically redirected to a different gauge page.

I haven't made them available as a 'package' yet for a number of reasons:

1. They are still very much in development
2. They don't yet work with IE
3. Another member (mcrossley) is already working on other realtime gauges and may release them at some point
4. Some of the functionality on the wind and rain gauges rely on extra custom realtime data not currently available in the standard realtime.txt file

However, having said this, I am happy for you to 'nick' the source code if you want to implement them yourself.

Just view the source of my gauges page (in FF), copy the relevant HTML, click on the relevant Javascript and copy that code, and finally copy the associated XML file (you'll need to type that as a URL in a browser to view the code and copy it, i.e. http://www.synewave.co.uk/gcsweather/gaugespressure.xml).

Paul,

Thank you so much, you and all the others contributing to this board have shared so much.

I'll work on the items you've suggested. They will keep me busy for some time.

I'm currently trying to get Virtual VP working to post the same data to my two different web sites. My approach to the problem is to run two separate sessions of Cumulus with one directed to each web site.

For reliability it built a machine with no moving parts, i.e. I've shelved the HD for an SSD, whether HD spool down is an issue or not 24/7 seems to have eaten more than one HD. The SSD has 1.5myn MTBF should hold up nice plus it's a little more environmentally friendly power consumption curve.

Thanks again.
