Startup error - alltime.ini

Post by crellster »

Hello all, first post here :)

I'm running 1.9 and every time I start Cumulus I get an error within about 30 secs stating it can't write to the alltime.ini file. I've found one thread relating to the file but tht was down to paths and fixed in a prior relase. I'm stuck !

exception class : EIniFileException
exception message : Unable to write to C:\Program Files (x86)\Cumulus\data\alltime.ini.

I've also de&re'd 1.9 three times but I still have the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a permissions problem. You're running Windows 7, but you haven't taken the advice to install outside Program Files. While this was known to cause the 'nuisance' problems with Windows hiding your data away, it's becoming apparent that on some systems it also causes permissions problems. I suggest you uninstall, and reinstall to C:\Cumulus or similar.

I did take the advice...just on the first install though :bash:

I'd been trying 2.0 and have just gone back to 1.9. I'll give that a whirl again, and thanks!

Could the install default to C:\Cumulus, it would avoid quite a few issues now Windows 7 is becoming more common place?

It's been doing that for some time now, in 1.9.1.

I should have noticed this , so once 1.9.1. is out of beta problem goes away :)

Except for the people who see it defaulting to a non-standard location and change it to Program Files...

I could always change it to store its data in the correct place, but that brings with it a whole new set of problems.
