Hi I am having a few teething problems in setting up my site.
Basically it is the updating I am having difficulty with. I currently have the internet configured as "use active ftp mode". In the bottom left of the main cumulus page it constantly says connecting to web site. I have tried knocking off my firewall but still nothing.
The page is at
http://www.hufton.eclipse.co.uk/chartha ... /index.htm
Cheers Ian

You've tried it in passive mode (active not set) too, with the same result, I assume?
If you turn on ftp logging, the ftplog.txt file may show what's going on.

Hi I have managed to get it updating now.
The next problem that I am experiencing is that I have tried to edit the text of the index page. Which is fine but as soon as the page updates it changes back to the old text. I have tried to edit it in both dreamweaver and notepad.

It sounds like you are editing the page which Cumulus generates, so your changes get lost the next time Cumulus creates the file. You have to edit the "templates", e.g. indexT.htm.

Cheers for the help. I had been editing the wrong page like you said. So now I edit the indexT page. I have left all the tags in place so location now looks like this in notepad
<h1><#Chartham> weather</h1>
Now when it uploads I just get a blank screen. It also appears to have overwrite the index file when uploading so is now just blank. I have read through the wiki but cannot find the answers. Sorry to be a pain and thanks for all your help.

There is no such <#webtag> as <#Chartham>

So Ian H, when you edited the "Index.htm" page, did you perhaps put your location - Chartham - inside the brackets that originally said "<#location>" ? I believe, if you wish to change the location, you could replace the <#location> tag with just your location, such as <H1>Chartham My House weather</A>
Might need proving, though.
[EDITED - I had meant to state edit the IndexT.htm page. Slipped finger. [/EDITED]

But then you have to update all your pages like this.
The idea of the webtag is that it gets the value that you have already configured for your location in Cumulus.
The most important thing, is don't edit anything other than the T files i.e. indexT.htm. These files have the webtags in that get processed by Cumulus, then creates the index.htm file with the data in and uploads it to your website. No need to 'hardcode' the location at all.

I was only updating the pages labelled t
In the end I removed the "<#location>" and just typed the heading in.
It appears to be working now, Thanks for the help.
