Hello from Ray, having thought about it for quite a while, I took the plunge and purchased my NG96GY (Maplins) yesterday and set it up and now working without any problems.
Have had a look around the forum and found it very interesting and informative, being a senior citizen with I think a better than average knowledge PC`s, I may well embark on my own weather site at some time in the future, when I am better informed about how it all works.

Welcome Ray

Nice to see another senior citizen

I too have a fair knowledge of PCs and electronics in general. And I too bought my station from Maplin.

Indeed -- I am often amazed (and bamboozled) by Gina's in-depth knowledge of electronics. For me, just like my car, I have no knowledge of how it operates I just want it to work. LOL
I love Gina's persistance with a problem

Thank you David

I had a career in electronics and computers so had plenty of time to pick things up.

Thank you all for the for the warm welcome, I look forward to learning from you all.
Very quickly I found Cumulus having set up my station and downloaded it, a very nice display and superior to that which came on the disk.
Ray.

As a three month's experienced newbie myself, I can tell you, you are in the right place.
My best newbie tips. The "Help section and the Wiki is filled with information you will need and use so be sure and do your reading. Second, try mounting your new weather station on s cheap drive-in fence post so you can move it around your yard to test different locations. When you have it right then make it more permanent remembering the station will need servicing.

Hi Randy, thanks for the tip, at the moment its attached to the top of an 2.5 metre 22mm copper tube, with a heavy base from a garden umbrella, once the ground is not frozen solid, I will make more permanent fixture, probably with your idea.
As for the Wiki etc, am reading and getting all the info I can, very interesting.
Thanks again.

Having finally found the way into BT web space, I have finally created my own weather site and
http://www.btinternet.com/~weather65/weather/index.htm it appears to be working 100%, well it would be if the wind readings could be seen, but direction and speed are frozen.
I can see the entire site on Firefox, but not the two Wind gauges in IE8 or IE9 beta on Windows 7, but it works on my Vista laptop with both Firefox and IE8, strange, all the odds ends, Java, SWF etc are up to date
Will get around to adding a few bits and pieces, then on to see how it goes with Linux.
Keep an eye on the weather

and take care.
Ray.
