I have been installing the cumulus for iphone app

http://www.h-i-r.org.uk/weather/iphone/index.html

I was wondering, are there supposed to be graphics behind the text for "current" "today" etc etc, because at the moment, its pure text

also, having a bit of difficulty with the "automated" script to send someone automatically to the iphone site if browsing on one, have done exactly as it said, have tried the indexT file, and the ordinary index file, pointing to the iphone area, with no luck, i have edited the file as per instruction I think, its attached below

There are no graphics to speak of beyond the buttons, and background, so it is very text based.
Here are a few shots of your site from the iPhone, and it looks just as it should.
front.PNG
current.PNG

The file you attached does not contain the script!! it needs to be in the indexT.htm file. Can you upload that

thanks

Ok, looks like you have the wrong URL in the script you have added to the indexT.htm file

Code: Select all

document.location = "http://www.h-i-r.org.uk/public_html/weather/iphone/";
I think the public_html is superflous in your address, so it should be

Code: Select all

http://www.h-i-r.org.uk/weather/iphone/
public_html is only used when FTPing the files to the server by you. Browsers do not use it as public_html is considered the 'root' when users access the site via a browser.

Yip, same here -- just surfed to your main site and I get the iPhone version in portrait mode and the full site in landscape :-)

thanks -- I could probably do more with it since I pulled it together a year or so ago but it was simply to prove it could be done. A few people have asked for an ipad version, but to be honest I don't see the point as the ipad screen is big enough to give you the full site experience.

I have promised a few people a Blackberry version!

I agree with the ipad version, kinda pointless, if you have any plans to develop it further, give me a shout, will be glad to beta test for you

I have a slightly modified version of David's iPhone that I have renamed ... best viewed with the Safari browser... :)

And there is this incredible version of an iPhone script that has been designed to use the data from WD ... again best viewed with the Safari browser...

LOL

We need to see the index.htm before it has data in it. The one you attached has data and no webtags. Is that perhaps the problem? You have overwritten the one on the PC. To confirm, the one on the PC should contain webtags and no data, the one on the server should be data and no webtags

Which one did you want to see, the one in the "web" folder, or the one in the "iphone" folder? have attached both in case, cheers mate

it's the one in your iPhone folder

As suspected, looks like you have over written it. The one you attached as no webtags in it, but real data.

I guess you have edited one with data in it rather than webtags and saved it over the original. You will need to replace index.html in the iphone folder with the original one again, and then do your edits to that file.

Remember, Cumulus needs webtags in files in order to process and replace with real data.
