Cannot transfer any data from weatherstation to computer

I have been using a Fine Offset WH1090 since June2010, so its memory is now full.
I have installed Cumulus on my computer, and plugged the weatherstation in via a USB port.
However I cannot get it to transfer any data from the weatherstation to the computer.
I have set the parameters on the “Station Settings” page. (I have ticked “Fine Offset” and “Use data logger”, set the units, and set the data log interval to 30mins. The weatherstation is set to save readings every hour.) I have set the COM Port to “0”, because I am using USB, not a COM port, and anyway I think I have read somewhere that the COM Port does not need setting for Fine Offset stations.
When I click the “OK” button, I get the downloading window, but even after an hour, this window is still open, and no data has been transferred.
The weatherstation does not appear in Windows Explorer, although I cannot find anything in the Cumulus Basic Installation Guide to suggest whether it should.
EasyWeather is installed on the computer, but is not running.
Why is Cumulus not downloading any data?

Please zip up the diags files and attach them.

I tried to send this a few minutes ago, but only got “Error 404. The page you are looking for does not exist”, so this may be a duplicate.
Thanks for your quick response.
Today, I have connected the weather station to the computer again, and then tried to open cumulus, in order to generate the bugreport.
However, trying to open the program several times, I now always get the error report “cumulus.exe – An error occurred in Cumulus.....”
I am attaching the bugreport for this fault. I am not sure whether this is another manifestation of the fault I had yesterday, when Cumulus opened properly, but the data would not transfer from weatherstation to computer, or whether this is another separate fault.
Yesterday, and again today after the Cumulus failure, I tried to open EasyWeather. This worked perfectly each time, so the weatherstation appears to be connected to the computer ok.
Update -
I clicked “continue application” in the error window, instead of “restart application”. The program then started, and some of the parameter boxes show values other than zero. However the Outdoor Temperature, for instance, is showing 12.4DegC, when the temperature outside is actually below freezing and we have snow. (minus 1.9DegC according to the weather station.) It still is not downloading any historical data from the weatherstation memory. The error message has again appeared, so I am attaching the bugreport from this error message too, timed at 04:01
Regards,
KenT

It looks like you have changed your system date format? Please attach the diags files that I asked for (i.e. the contents of the diags folder, zipped), and your today.ini, November log file and dayfile.txt will also be useful.

According to Windows Explorer, I have six folders and twelve files installed in the "Cumulus" folder.
The backup, data, and Diag folders all show "This folder is empty". and I cannot find any of the today.ini, November log and dayfile.txt files. (I have looked in Windows Explorer within the cumulus folder, and used Windows "Search" over the whole computer.)
The Date formats, in Control Panel/Regional and Language Options/Formats, are ddMMMyy and dd MMMM yyyy.

You're using Vista; which folder did you install Cumulus into?

Hi Steve.
Originally I installed Cumulus in the default installation folder, i.e. C:\Program Files\Cumulus, because I don't know enough about computers to be confident about changing such things. The FAQ merely said that I may not be able to access my data, or any diagnostic files, and I couldn't see that I was ever likely to want to access these files.
However I have now spent the day re-installing Cumulus on the "D" drive (With lots of problems in doing this!) and investigating how one "zips" a folder. After frightening myself that I would have to pay £26 for WinZip, I stumbled across the fact that Vista includes a zip facility.
Following the re-installation I still have exactly the same problems. The program really isn't even starting properly; some values change from the initial "0", after about ten minutes, but the values appearing are clearly nonsense, we have not had 9.6mm of rain, or melted snow, today, and the outside temperature is not 10.8DegC.; it is below freezing. The weatherstation is showing the correct values, and if I open EasyWeather, then this shows the correct values too.
I have read the words about downloading data from prior to today, and about the clock, in the Readme.txt document, but that is all way beyond my brain's capabilities. I think I cannot understand it because, prominent in my thoughts, is the fact that both HeavyWeather and EasyWeather quite happily download data with the correct times and dates shown, from way past.
The attached folders are from the new installation of the program.
Thanks for persevering with me so far. Here's hoping you can solve my problem.

The date separator on your system is 'null'. This means that Windows is generating strange date formats that Cumulus can't cope with. I should really have spotted this when you posted your date formats.
29Nov10 22:30:54.613 : List separator=, Date separator= NUL Time separator=:
29Nov10 22:30:54.660 : Short date format: 29Nov10
I suppose that really Cumulus should detect this situation and use a default separator. But it doesn't. So, unless you have a specific need for a null date separator, you need to go into your Windows settings and change your short date format to include a separator, e.g. dd-MMM-yy, or whatever the usual date format is for your region. Then, delete the contents of the data folder and try starting Cumulus again.
