Beetlejuice thanks for that i will rename all of the images when i have the chance but in V2 for now V1 will stay as is but soon V2 will replace it with the new and improved code i have almost finnished the index page of V2 so next is the Gauges page, also if i just keep the names as they are on V1 if i copy and replace them cumulus should process them like default shouldnt it?

Re: Ballina nsw weather V2.0
Why don't you read what I have written
YOU DON'T NEED THIS:
You can just code:
... and it would nice if it had height and width attributes (assuming all your images are the same size)
YOU DON'T NEED THIS:
Code: Select all
<script type="text/javascript">
var imagen = <#forecastnumber>;
document.write('<img src = "images/'+imagen+'.png"/>');
</script>Code: Select all
<img src="images/<#forecastnumber>.png" alt="Station forecast" title="Station forecast" />

I thought height/width attributes are only necessary if one wants to scale their images to something other than the actual dimensions, correct me if I'm wrong?beteljuice wrote: ... and it would nice if it had height and width attributes (assuming all your images are the same size)

Re: Ballina nsw weather V2.0
I would avoid height/width if you can. If you set them to something other than the true size of the image you are giving your browser too much work as it will adjust the size after downloading it and before displaying. Always try to have images already saved at the size you need them. Nothing worse than your browser downloading a 2mb pic to show it in a tiny box.
If you want to size the page at load and avoid the visual 'jumps' as images are inserted use a div set to the image size.

You are ruining the look of your index page.
What is the url of your gauges test page ?

Totally agree with Beteljuice.beteljuice wrote:You are ruining the look of your index page.

You'll end up having everything on one page. Why not stick to a menu giving users the opprtunity to look furher if they want to? Umless of course it's for your use only, in which case don't call it index.
Also, you have a nice looking larger banner at the top, and the next line almost the same size is Welcome To Ballina NSW Weather in text. This for example pushing all of the important information down the page. Try and keep the index page showing the weather info without users having to scroll down.

Re: Ballina nsw weather V2.0
If you must use a picture instead of text, reduce the width of the Beaufort graphic. Lots of dead space in it. In fact, I'd rather see it as text in the same format as the rest of the table. Why not use the webtag <#beaudesc> ?

NOTE!!!!
some coding that you see on there now will be modified
and all of my navbuttons will eventually hover like the index page does

But it is not a graphic, it is just text in a box! What's so special about the beaufort value?
Also, why do you need three different views of pictures of your weather station sensors on the index page? It's such a waste of space and if visitors are interested in seeing what a weather station looks like, they'll navigate your site and find the picture on an appropriate page.
As I've said before, people visit your website, hopefully because they want to look at the weather info, not at what latest web skills you've recently learnt. And you have learnt so much in the past few months since others and I have been assisting you, but I fear you are losing sight of how a good website should look.
Hope this is not too harsh, but you do keep prompting us for feedback, so here it is.
But then again, it's your website and it is all up to you. I'm just giving you my opinion.
