I'm becoming frustrated that I cant seem to get Cumulus to run with my Fine Offset W-8681 yet it works fine with the rubbish easyweather software that came with the station. The cumulus configuration guide states that I should avoid having to choose the easyweather option such that Cumulus piggybacks on the top so I have taken this advice and set it up as per the recommendation but cumulus is just not reading and displaying any data. There seems to be lots of users on this forum that have W-8681 and have managed to get cumulus to run. I can't believe they are all using easyweather in background.
Can someone give me a few tips. - john

You're not running Easyweather at the same time, are you? Assuming you're not, zip up the diags folder and attach it here, and I'll see what's going on.

Hi Steve,
No I'm not running Easyweather in fact I have even de-installed easyweather just to see if there was something running in the background.
Diags folder zipped and attached as requested.
Cheers - John

Re: W-8681
You have a problem with your relative pressure setting; it's producing an impossibly low pressure value, so Cumulus is ignoring your data, suspecting that it is corrupt:
19/11/2010 23:21:12.140 : EWUSB: Read pressure values: rel=499.9 abs=988.7 offset =-488.8
19/11/2010 23:21:12.937 : 23:21:12 EWUSB: Processing history data for = 19/11/2010 20:59:12
19/11/2010 23:21:12.937 : EWUSB: Ignoring bad data: pressure = 499.799987792969
19/11/2010 23:21:12.937 : EWUSB: offset = -488.800018310547
You need to correct that; I can't remember whether you can set it from the console or whether you need to use EW.

Hi John & Steve, steve wrote: You need to correct that; I can't remember whether you can set it from the console or whether you need to use EW.
Yes you can set the pressure from the Console you just tap the pressure a few time on the display and then you can set the pressure to a station close by to you.
I hope this help to get your station working with Cumulus.

Re: W-8681
Thanks to both of you.
I have now adjusted the relative pressure. I did it from Easyweather Set-up. Cumulus now works fine - it appears. I'll leave it running for a few days to make sure it all makes sense. I have to admit I did notice the relative pressure was reading a very strange value but hadn't realised it would cause the Cumulus to not operate at all. Maybe a good point to note in the next release of user instructions and/or FAQ's. I have not got my mind around relative pressure yet. Does this mean if you live at high altitude you can correct for the offset or if your pressure gauge calibration is a bit out you can correct for it?
Thanks once again. The next step is to get the uploads to the club web site.
If it all works out fine as I'm sure it will then we will be making a donation.

Re: W-8681
Yes that's correct, I live at 500m and my current pressure here is 950hpa whereas the pressure at sea level is currently 1021hpa, therefore my relative pressure is adjusted to reflect that value.1113562 wrote:Thanks to both of you.
