Did you do as David suggested? Is EasyWeather showing the same kind of errors(make sure Cumulus isn't running)?
daj wrote:Maybe your device has a fault? You definitely have a problem somewhere, and I doubt it is Cumulus as it is as stable as a rock

Why not revert back to the EasyWeather software for a while to prove (or not) that your PC is able to communicate with the console via USB
Have you read through the forum searching for rain error problems?

You need to do some research for yourself so that you can isolate where the problem is occurring then I'm sure you'll either have solved it or you can be more specific about the problem..... good luck

i have used easy weather with it all night and it is working like a charm no problems, return to cumulus this morning BANG an imaginary few thousand millimeters so my hardware is not faulty but looks like something is wrong.

Maybe you can find the solution in the wiki by adjusting your logfiles start here http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_mon ... _are_wrong

and read the part under

My station invented some rain today that didn't really occur, and I want to set it to zero

Cumulus calculates rainfall from a counter supplied by the station which keeps increasing as the rain causes the rain gauge to tip. Cumulus remembers the value of that counter at the start of the meteorological day, so that at any time duing the day it can calculate today's rain by subtracting that figure from the current value of the counter. The start of day figure is stor etcetera..

No i do not run those together since i know that you shouldn't if i run easy weather i usually close cumulus and chech that the process is also ended then i start easy weather download all the data there and i kept it up all night and no problems i then close easy weather and then after that re run cumulus, for the first 5 minutes cumulus runs fine but then all of a sudden it goes oopsy daysys,

I did something but i dont know if i helped to change it

1) i went to delete all of cumuluses Data and backup and diags files re ran cumulus 2 hours now no problems
2) re installed 1.91 beta (latest) and still no problems perhaps my diags or something else went bad?
3) deleted cumulus folders from /C/Users/XXXXX/appdata
4) cleaned cumulus from the registry
5) as i said reinstalled cumulus and so far working perfect although it is not raining so time will only tell.

3) deleted cumulus folders from /C/Users/XXXXX/appdata

Windows 7 users SHOULDN'T be installing in the programs area (which creates that appdata area)

4) cleaned cumulus from the registry

Cumulus does not create any registry entries ?

cumulus was installed in C:\Cumulus not program files and Cumulus does indeed make a registry log any program you install does it has to to make the computer know O wait theres a program called cumulus on here,

So far excellent no rogue readings and the wind is very strong still going good

in the registry i dont remember what it was called but it was under

Hkey local or something like that.

You're correct; it doesn't. But of course the installer does.

Definitely not. Impossible. Cumulus doesn't use the registry.

Your erroneous rainfall readings have been due to the fact that your station's rain counter has been going up and down erratically:
