Have a look at
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0663600783
Does it have a Data Logger? I can't see anything mentioned.

Features:
1. Solar powered transmitter
2. UV index(0-12)
3. Illuminance for local measurements
4. USB port for easy connection to your PC
5. All the weather data from the base station and up to 4080 sets of
weather history data with user adjustable measuring intervals can
be recorded and uploaded to your PC
... but note. Clock signal is WWVB (US) or DCF (Germany) (probably not both)

Hi Ned
The batteries that come with the transmitter are standard alkaline AA batteries that fit in the transmitter the same as the other Fine Offset units.
The solar panel does not trickle charge these - my suspicion is that they are there to boost the power, and 'kickstart' the unit on first install.
The solar panel itself has an incorporated battery - I haven't opened it to look, but suspicion is that this is similar in size to the batteries you find in domestic portable phones. There is nothing to suggest that it is officially user replaceable.
I thought of taking out the AA batteries to see if power was maintained, but haven't been that brave or wanted to disturb the set up until i need to service

Cheers. I imagine they might also be pressed into service after a protracted period of sunless days, or even during an Arctic circle winter
And if the built in (lithium?) battery died altogether the system could keep on rolling...

It seems (from the images) the standard software easyweather is supplied just wondering how the data for UV and solar are accessed there are no capabilities in the latest version of easyweather to report the values

It may be that the solar data isn't available to software. There's no room in the existing logger data for anything else, for example, so if it does use a spare location in the memory, it's quite likely that only the current/live value would be available.

I was asking the same. From the pic from eBay it looks as if the 'Light" value is displayed as a 2 digit number with a indicator pointing to Low, Moderate, Very High or Extreme. If Steve can work his magic and incorporate the solar readings, I might upgrade. Cheaper that the VP2 I've been hoping Santa will bring and I can use the wind sensors as spares.

Just downloaded and installed Easyweather v6.2 from FO at
http://www.foshk.com/NEWS/34.htm and there doesn't appear to be anything new. I can't see anywhere where the solar data is displayed in the latest version of Easyweather.
