ALSO, with having the display, will the transmitter send the information to the new display AND the old one (I do understand the old one doesn't show the sun) but would it show the rest as per normal?
This is difficult to tell without doing a test, but if I would guess I'll think it will work because today you can bye a wh1080 with and without the solar stuff.
Logically they would be sold under a different model number if it would be a bigger differences.

But they are sold under different model numbers. The solar option for WH1080 models is only for powering the transmitter, it doesn't give you solar energy or UV readings. The format of the logger entries in the WH3080 is different (each entry is 4 bytes longer, and hence the total number of entries is lower) so the firmware must be different.

I now own both the WH1080 and the WH3080. I am only using the WH3080 now as I could not really solve the outdoor temp spikes with the WH1080. The WH3080 has not had the spike issue and has been running for 4 weeks.

To answer your questions, I am using the wind and rain sensors that came with the older WH1080 with the new transmitter and have had no issues.

The older WH1080 display does not receive the data being transmitted by the newer unit. This has been a little disappointing.

If you relocate your new transmitter and plan to use extension cables you need to be aware that the rain/solar/charging circuit cable requires six wires where the older unit had only four wires (rain/charging circuits). The wind circuit is still four wires.

Hope this helps.

Answered nicely

What I might do then, is just move the old system, leave it transmitting to the unit to display in the house, and then use the new unit with cumulus (if and when i get it)

It will also be handy for calibration

Sam. Are the 2 transmitters and Consoles on the same frequency?

Yeah, I would imagine they are, in the uk on 433mhz, so my idea of running them side by side is a no go from the start

Rob

You need to check the system or the box it came in if you still have it. My orignal one from Maplin was a 433Mhz but the new one I have just bought is 868Mhz. The wind and rain sensors are the same though.

Sorry I thought it was a standard frequency, that's handy to know, cheers

[quote="Super-T"]Sam. Are the 2 transmitters and Consoles on the same frequency?

The WH1080 receiver is marked 433.9 and the WH3080 is marked 433. The WH1080 receiver does not receive any data from the WH3080 transmitter.

Probably a silly question, but did you have the 3080 up and running and then start the 1080 console from cold....no batteries and no USB connection?

Yeah, the WH1080 receiver had been sitting a few days with no batteries before I fired it back up. Have tried it numerous times with no luck.

Hi All,

The WH3080 is in stock at Signatrol Ltd, just received mine today.

Contrast is great, no more touch screen. Yippee.

Cheers

Signatrol have the 433MHz version in stock.

In Europe we can use 433MHz and 868MHz. The 433MHz has a better range, but the frequency band is more crowded.

Also the lower frequencies tend to use less battery current, and the radio module inside the fine offset stations has between power output at 433MHz compared to 868MHz.

Regarding the earlier reply.

My WH3080 unit, which i got from Signatrom.com comes with Rechargable Alkaline batteries. the manual states these must be used.

I guess there are a step up from Ni-Cds and Ni-mH batteries, which suffer from the memory effect.

These are the batteries supplied below.

I don't mind relevant vendors coming on here and 'advertising', but I would hope they would be open about it and not apparently attempt to deceive by concealing their identity and making it look like they were a customer rather than the proprietor. I hate dishonesty on the internet :(
