Crashed -- No message on screen, Cumuus just died!

Post by daj »

Hi Steve

The Cumulus process just seemed to disappear. I got an email from 'Toolbox' to say Cumulus was not running and when I connected to the PC, sure enough, it was gone -- nothing on screen.

I had a quick peak at the ELF and see...

Code: Select all

EOutOfResources
Not enough storage is available to process this command.
ELF file attached just in case it is important. Cumuls had been running for about 5 days. I rarely shut it down and it has been known to run for weeks with no issue.

Mine did the same thing so many times that I went back to the 1.9.0 version.

Mine just crashed too. But there was a dialog on the screen, the same as I have had before. Same as the previous time, I had left the main and 'graphs' screen active. Normally I minimise Cumulus to the systray. I'm connecting via remote desktop.

On clicking OK, Cumulus closes.

Same problem here. Attached is a diags file which may help. Going back to an earlier build overnight.

Later: There are a few error messages in the second zip too. Why so many WU errors Steve?

Just an update... I couldn't find an earlier version so kept 962 running. It's still running now.

Well, this is all very bad news, I thought it seemed to be settling down. One day everyone's posting about how well it's running, the next day, this.

I'm not overly concerned -- my Cumulus never crashes, and to be honest you do expect the odd one from any windows app :o

I just wondered if this one was important in the beta cycle.

Yours is also from build 957, and from some time ago?

Don't know. You have so many errors in there that I don't know where to start.

This one might be easy for you to fix, though:

13/11/2010 23:28:25.465 : Error processing C:\Program Files\Cumulus\web\cumuluswebtags.txt Error: Line too long on line 106

The latest build may well do the same, but I have fixed a few crashes since 957. I haven't intentionally fixed the one in your dump, but who knows. It's so much easier to fix when the crash is in Cumulus itself.

Opps, upgrading now... I could reproduce my crash 'almost' at will in 957, lets see if the latest build fixes it.

Thanks - I'm now running the latest beta

So was the crash not Cumulus? Or was it a related component?

Yes, in the component which calculates the moon phase. Or so it appeared, anyway; I think perhaps the call stack was corrupt, it didn't really make sense.
