Erroneous rain today

Had some pole wobble and recorded .01 rain today. I'm a bit confused. In reading the Wiki help section on this it mentions the today.ini file. I can't find it anywhere in the Cumulus directory?? Any help on removing this erroneous reading? Thanks........

Windows 7?
Cumulus Installed in c:\program files?
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#I_can. ... a_files.21
far better to have Cumulus outwith the c:\program files

Yeah I failed to read that upon installation and yes Win7 and yes under programs. It can't simply be moved can it? Thanks David I'll check the link.

Yes you can move it anywhere you wish. The trick is to ensure you get all the files from the other location
I wrote up a procedure to move Cumulus, but it doesn't include moving the 'rouge' files Windows Vista/7 has hidden elsewhere.
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Moving_cumulus
The process would be the same, but you also need to copy the 'rouge' data files back to the new folder

Thanks. I'll take a peak after I try to pull this off.

Well obviously I'm low on rocket science today.
Here's what the today.ini says...
[Rain]
High=0.119999997317791
HTime=09:17
Start=1.4055118560791
Yesterday=0
LastTip=2010-11-13 09:16
I've recorded a false.01 today. I'm unsure how to make the described changes. Reading the FAQ I'm really confused....
Here's the very last line in this months log and it has me confused even more...
13/11/10,11:15,70.2,35,39.3,15.9,27.3,21,0.00,0.01,30.17,1.42,80.2,31,26.6,70.2,70.2,0.0,0

Close down Cumulus
Edit your today.ini
[Rain]
High=0.0
HTime=09:17
Start=1.42
Yesterday=0
LastTip=2010-11-13 09:16
change your entry in the monthly log to...
13/11/10,11:15,70.2,35,39.3,15.9,27.3,21,0.00,0.00,30.17,1.42,80.2,31,26.6,70.2,70.2,0.0,0
make sure that the rest of todays entries in the monthly log file are zero'd for rain too.

Thanks David, that gives me a better understanding of it all. Long story short is the way the pole is mounted I'll run to this again so moving the rain gauge to a flat stable surface needs to be done. The sensor/transmitter is located in the shield housing so unplugging it would be a mess. Obviously in moving the gauge I'll pick up more erroneous rain in the process. I'm wondering if powering down the console for the move would be appropriate?

Everything went fine and reads right now including my Cumulus page. It did not change however on my Weather Underground history page for today. Will this remain the (todays erroneous.01) or will it eventually update?

Tony, in the past I have unplugged the rain gauge from the transmitter for cleaning etc numerous times without any problems.
So I can't see you having any issues.

Thanks Gerard... In my case it would be a huge task as the only part Ii can unplug on my is the one end that goes into the sensor which is housed in the big shield. It does not unplug from the gauge itself and is hard wired in the gauge. Thus moving it will cause erroneous rain readings so wondered if simply powering down the console would suffice for the move to avoid that? If not I could just go back in the files and correct it I reckon. Before I attempt it I'll need to insure my cord is long enough to relocate the gauge to where I want it (it'll be close). If not it's either order the extension cord or have to go in and manually make the corrections again. Wasn't sure what powering down the console itself would do?

from the lasst entry you posted from your monthly log file
13/11/10,11:15,70.2,35,39.3,15.9,27.3,21,0.00,0.01,30.17,
1.42,80.2,31,26.6,70.2,70.2,0.0,0
This figure represent the total rain fall counter ever (that your station is sending Cumulus)
So what I did was tell the today.ini to start it's counter at 1.42 (rather than 1.4055..). Then the next reading from the sation will also be 1.42 so Cumulus thinks, "ah No rain today as my day started at 1.42"
File format is here ....

Does that help?
