Setting up a web page.

Post by SeaDweller »

Hi.

I know that this will be an annoying question to people who have been here for years but i am trying to set up a web page from my Maplin Weather station. I can make a home page easily enough through dreamweaver
but I cannot get the weather data to show.

Is there someone there that could point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it.

Kind Regards

Alex.

Hi Alex

Welcome to the forum.

What to you mean you can not get the weather data to show up?

Are you adding webtags to your own custom pages?

Hi Alex,

Also following on from Davids reply, Cumulus has built in webpages and the ability to automatically upload them to your webspace, plenty of info in the FAQ about that.

If you want to use Dreamweaver to edit the pages, be careful, read the FAQ's as DW will change characters and make your website unreadable.

But if you need help at anytime, just ask. This forum is very helpful.

Hi

Thanks guys for coming back.

I am a total novice and have got the webspace and know where to put the files on the server, but I need a total idiots guide to what files to put on that site and if that will make it's own index page and will appear immediately.

I'm completely lost.

Kind Regards

Alex

Hi Daj

That seemed to get me further than I have been. It still isn't working but I feel that I am starting to understand a little so thanks for that link.

My problem is if i don't create an index page for the site and upload the all the files I get the forbidden message on explorer. If I create a blank index page first, that is all I see. I can see cumulus logging on and updating then logging out but they juast don't seem to appear.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Alex.

You've probably specified an incorrect path/directory in the internet settings, so the 'change directory' fails and all the files get dumped at the top level in your ftp filestore.
