Read the warranty. The Davis anemometer I use can record hurricane-strength winds but that wouldn't necessarily mean they would replace it if it blew away. I suspect it's only guaranteed against normal failure, not wind damage.blackbob wrote:i bought my station from Maplins last month and it's securely fitted.

What part of the world do you live? The highest winds will probably be in Western Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Re: THURSDAYS STORM
I guess you could argue under the "fit for purpose" section in the Sale of Goods act. The device specification says it will measure wind up to 100mph so it should be able to withstand that. If the equipment remained on your fixing but fell apart you could easily argue it.
If, however, your fixings came apart (say your pole blew down) then you have no chance
To be honest I think you should be fine with the storm. My station has handled a lot in the last two years!

In that case, batton down the hatches. The Met Office has issued a weather alert for this part of the UK and you aren't too far away.

Re: THURSDAYS STORM
The Met Office are warning of winds inland of up to 75mph across the central section of the UK and Ireland so this is a substantially worse storm than Monday's.
I'm confident my high wind gust of 42mph will be smashed. I just hope the chimney the anemometer is attached to isn't also smashed!
