That's scary Daj! My drop-rate is only 1.66Mb/hr.
Geoff, I reckon your record of 973.6 might go tonight.

Wow, enjoy the exciting weather
We had a similar low pressure system cross northern NZ in July 2008. The central pressure in the far north of the country got down to 964 hPa, about the equal lowest on record there. In Auckland there was a 12 hPa pressure drop in 3 hours!

The pressure change is now described by Cumulus as "falling very rapidly" -2.07Hpa/hr. First time I can remember seeing that!
Highest gust is still only 12mph in last 10 minutes.
And now the UK Met Office has issued the following severe weather warning for NW England...
Rain will become heavy on Monday morning with accumulations of 20 to 30 mm expected, especially in the west.
The rain will turn to snow above 400 m, giving accumulations of up to 5 cm on higher roads. The snow may drift in strong to gale force winds, with gusts of up to 60 mph possible.
My station is below 400m (85m) so I won't get the snow but it will get very nasty on trans-Pennine routes tomorrow morning. I'm just glad I have the day off.
Here's the latest rainfall radar.

We've just reached gale force 8 here, 40 mph, gusts to 50 mph. Pressure 985 mb, (-1.77 mb/hr) not falling as rapidly as it was earlier. I don't think we'll be breaking any records here, this is just normal Orkney weather

After 4 or 5 hours of calm the wind has just started up here and now just a Force 2 westerly. Pressure now falling very rapidly, well over -2mb/h. The temperature is rising slowly now.

Rate of fall in pressure is increasing - looks like around -4mb/hour now! It's fallen by more than 2mb in the last half hour!

Wow! Mine maxxed out at -3.00Mb/hr. Gina, you're going to be very close to the centre of the low.Gina wrote:-5mb in the last hour!
Do we have a webtag for maximum pressure change/hr? It would be interesting in conditions like these. My max gust is still only 21mph.

Re: Major Atantic Low due to hit British Isles on Monday 8th Nov
Sounds scary!
What are the transition values some people are using to describe pressure change rates in their banners, from slow to moderate to rapid to very rapid? Are they the same as Cumulus uses, whatever they are?
(I've just started adding a phrase in my banner to describe the pressure changes, derived from <#presstrend> in realtime.txt, and am fiddling with the values)
