I have just installed Cumulus having previously used Heavy Weather.
So far everything looks good.
I have a La Crosse WS2350 station, fully hard wired and installed 12 months ago and situated approx 3 miles from Manchester Airport, a useful checking source.
My regards to you all
Brian

Hello Brian,
Are you using the latest 1.8.4 beta with your La Crosse (build 587 or later)? Earlier versions have a bug that can cause corruption of data downloaded from the station at startup.

Thanks for the welcome folks.
Steve, I have installed 1.8.3 build 539 so I guess I should ditch this and install 1.8.4 beta. This will have to be tomorrow.
I did wonder when it reckoned, on start up, that we had had 26ins of rain this month but assumed that it would settle down when it got a bit more data to work on.

I have now installed Ver 1.8.4 beta build 589 everything works apart from a small problem.
It was a clean install, I completely uninstalled 1.8.3 including the data files and the cumulus folder.
The problem is that the display shows the rain in the last hour to be 23.68 ins.
Dec08log.txt shows todays rain as 23.68 0n the second line.
I edited this to show 0.0 in and restarted - no difference.
Looking at Dayfile.txt it shows rainfall today as .02 in which is as shown on my LaCrosse display.
For info - I am running Win XP SP3 and the WX is the WS2350.
Hope this provides some clues

Cumulus reads the 'rain in last hour' figure directly from the station, so that must be the figure it's giving. Unless I have screwed up somewhere with the unit conversion or something - I'll check. But if it should actually be zero, then that would seem to suggest not. Is it still showing that figure?

Hi Steve
Cumulus is now reading 23.76 (was 23.68)
LaCrosse now .04 (was .02)
It is now raining. All figures for "Rain in last hour"
Hope this helps
Brian

Sorry Steve, I got that last post slightly wrong.
Cumulus now says Rain Today 23.76 Rain in last Hour 23.68
La Crosse did say Rain in Last Hour .02 after overnight rain. Now says .04 and it is raining.

Having looked at the code, I see that not only am I reading rain in last hour from the station, but I am also doing the standard thing of working it out myself once a minute, and both of those are updating the display
So you might see the display changing between two values for 'rain last hour'?
Anyway, it's more likely given the above and what you say, that Cumulus has somehow picked up a bogus value for rain total (it's probably using the station total as if all of it fell today, so it must have become confused somehow). If you stop it and edit today.ini to adjust the Start= figure you should be able to get it to display the correct total for today's rain. The 'last hour' figure should also have returned to normal by now, I would have thought? Unless it really is coming from the station.

Steve
Last hour figure has now become sensible - reads .06
Today.ini reads
[Rain]
High=0.101968504488468
HTime=15:38
Start=13.7249603271484
Yesterday=0
Not sure which bit I should edit and what too.

Edit that one, with Cumulus stopped. It's the start of day rainfall total. Cumulus subtracts that from the current total to get today's figure. So you need to increase that figure by an amount to make today's total correct. So add in 23.something, I think.
