V1.91 Upgrade Windows 7 Never Starts

Hello,

I've been using 1.9.0 for a few weeks with great success.

I just tried upgrading to 1.9.1, the install appears to have gone off succesfully, however when I start Cumulus, the I never get the display screen. Task manager shows weather.exe running and taking CPU cycles but no display.

System is Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit, 4 GB RAM.

I've re-installed 1.9.0 and all is back to normal. Is there an issue with 1.9.1 and Win 7?

I use Windows 7 myself, so I know it does work OK. Can you zip up the diags folder and attach it, please?

What's weather.exe?

Hi Steve,

I re-installed as the regular user and when starting Cumulus, the cumulus.exe showed in task manager, but no display.

I re-installed using "Run as Administrator" on the installer and it now starts up fine.

All of my prior data and settings are missing however. Is there a way to fix this?

BTW Weather.exe is "Weather Bug" I was being dense.

I take it that your Cumulus installation is in the c:\program files folder structure?

This goes against the advice of the installation readme, and FAQ

Basically, windows 7 has placed your Cumulus data files in the user folder. When you are now logged in as administrator you have a different user folder, with no data

Far better to install Cumulus outwith c:\program files

With increasing uptake of Windows 7, maybe it's time for me to risk changing the default installation location to C:\Cumulus. I think updates to existing installations should be OK, whatever the OS or where they're installed. That would be a safer change than trying to change now to follow the rules for where data should be stored.
