v1.9.1(953) Rain Problems
I upgraded from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1(953) yesterday. Since the upgrade I have two problems.
First, rainfall this year shows on both the Cumulus console and the webpage as being 395.0 mm. However, the monthly log and the today file show it as 397.8.
Second, whenever I restart Cumulus, it records the last rain bucket tip as being at that time. No rain is recorded in the logs though.

I too have noticed that, although it doesn't seem to record that tip anywhere, which is good.silverview wrote:Second, whenever I restart Cumulus, it records the last rain bucket tip as being at that time. No rain is recorded in the logs though.

If more than one of you are seeing it, it's probably a simple rounding error connected with the storing of the rain counter in today.ini. I'll look at adjusting the threshold I use for determining whether the counter has changed. For some reason it doesn't happen to me at all.

Re: v1.9.1(953) Rain Problems
Thanks, it looks like it is just a rounding error. Perhaps it's dependent on the type of CPU. Anyway, I've put a change into the next build which should hopefully fix that.
Regarding the annual rain total; those figures you're quoting aren't the ones Cumulus uses for the annual total. It calculates the monthly and annual totals from the daily totals in dayfile.txt. These are the figures it's calculating from yours:
15/10/2010 03:09:01.656 : Rainthismonth from dayfile.txt: 6.19999980926514
15/10/2010 03:09:01.656 : Rainthisyear from dayfile.txt: 395.000122070313
It's hard to say where the slight difference is coming from; if you've not had to adjust the rain totals or had any problems, then you would expect the figures to match exactly - I've just checked mine, and they do, so it's clearly not a general problem in Cumulus.

I've never made any adjustments or had problems with rainfall measurements in the past. It's a minor issue, so I'll change the annual total and watch for any discrepancies to re-appear.
As always, thanks for you time Steve.

Steve, I just upgraded to build 954. That seems to have fixed the last bucket tip issue for me. Thanks.
Is there a way to change only the rain this year amount without affecting the monthly log or dayfile? Those numbers appear to be correct and also correlate with the data in Weatherlink.

You can use the 'year to date' setting; it's really intended for use when you start using Cumulus part way through a year, but all it does is add the supplied amount to the given year.
