Newbie - can anyone tell me what i have done wrong please?

Post by jaki »

Hi,

I bought a USB Wireless Weather Forecaster from Maplins last Xmas. (The one with the touch screen and Easy Weather software - which I don't use). It seemed to be running fine on my Win 7 OS 32 bit, up until a few days ago. Then nothing, nada, no more!

The portable forcaster appears to be getting info from the equipment outside, but my PC seems to have given up the ghost - no data recording at all.

So, clever me, I thought, well maybe it is a software problem, so I decided to reinstall the software - knowing that I would probably lose all my previous data.

Anyway, that didn't work so I thought, OK try the software update - so now I am running Cumulua 1.9 build 958.

Still no data showing on the My Weather window of Cumulus.

I have changed the batteries on the outside equipment, so It can't be that - unless there is something else that I should have done before changing the batteries?

Could it be that the sensor has become dislodged and I haven't noticed? But then the portable unit would not show the outside data would it?

I would really appreciate some one to help me with this please - even if it is to tell me what an idiot I am and should have no business even using a PC!

Many thanks in advance

If the console is showing data, then it's a problem between the console and Cumulus somewhere. If you zip the diags folder and attach it here, I'll be able to see why Cumulus isn't showing any data.

Edit - nope it worked for one update then stopped again. I had a look at configuration set up and found that the use dat files from easy weather was tivked - so tried to change it to fine offset - then a bug report appeared - so saved it and attach it here.

Would you believe it!

I have been messing about trying to compress the Diag files into a Win Zip file, and kept making a fatal mistake and saving as a .zipx file which I have found out is not accepted.

So by the time I gave up with that and looked at the Cumulus Software - It's working again! YIPPEE! Lost my previous data, but thats a price I have to pay for getting the software working again.

Many thanks for your speedy responce anyway - I'll keep you posted

I think I'm going to remove the easyweather.dat option, it's just confusing, and no-one should really need to use it now.

The 'easy' weather software is only necessary for setting the time interval reading the data (in case of fine-offset stations)

Yes, and Cumulus must NOT be running at the time.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.
