Activate Flash Realtime Gauges??

Hi Guys
I have just gotten my site online.
http://peiweather.comyr.com/weather
Problem is the gauges page has really caused my grief. At the outset only a few of the images would show, so I downloaded the htm file and all associated files fron a Gauge page from another site that works and replaced the CSS and java file with the one from that page. I also replaced the two other files in the dbimages folder with the ones from the other site and everything except for my realtime gauges is working. I am really not a flash person, so from what I can gather I have to activate the gauges. Is this right, and if so how do I do this? I have realtime checked in Cumulus settings too. I see some sites where you apparently now have to click on the embedded flash app to enable it. Some have code you can add to the source code to bypass this. I know I can figure this out, but just wondering if anyone else had this problem.
Thanks
Barry

The problem is that your realtime.txt file isn't being uploaded.
http://peiweather.comyr.com/weather/realtime.txt gives a blank page, rather than a 'not found', which is a bit strange, but anyway... if you turn on ftp logging and then attach the realtimeftplog.txt file here, it might give us a few clues.

Yeh that is weird. I FTPed to the files and there is a recent version on the realtime.txt file. Sec...I'll turn on FTP logging. Sometimes the FTP completes and sometimes it doesn't, so it may be the free provider I am using. I had tried to view the txt file too and couldn't but I thought maybe that was normal. What about the permissions on the file? I have them set to 754 I believe...sound right...it is the default.

I did notice that your pages had different times on them, suggesting an ftp problem. It is also possible that the web server blocks .txt files, some free hosting is very restrictive. You could check with an ftp client whether the realtime.txt file is actually there and contains data.

Now it gets weirder. I think I will have to find another host
When I FTP to my webspace and try to download the realtime.txt file to my desktop, the file it tries to default to for saving is a random name like realtimeCAGU6JKS.txt. It looks like the server changes the names on txt files. Is there anyway around this?

That looks like a separate issue, something to do with your ftp client, perhaps. But I see that your web site is now "under review", so maybe once it's been approved it might start working properly...

Some of the time it's working:
13:37:26:359 >|226-File successfully transferred|
And some of the time it's timing out after 15 seconds of no response from the server:

13:42:41:468 ! Aborting

Hmmmm...that under review is new. They will likely not let the page stay on their server anyways.
Does this software fall into nay of these categories...what do you think?
The most important rules are:
1. No adult content of any kind (allowed if you upgrade account)
2. No warez / hacking / phishing sites
3. No mass mailers / spammers (account will be automatically suspended if you will try to send mass mail), so if your software supports such feature, disable it right now.
4. We do not allow any file sharing scripts to be run. (allowed if you upgrade account)
5. Chat, proxy, or file download scripts are not allowed. (allowed if you upgrade account)
6. Paid-to-surf, auto-surf, buxto, and any other similar scripts are banned (allowed if you upgrade account)
7. We do not allow online gaming scripts such as ogame, mafia, etc.. (allowed if you upgrade account)
8. Nulled software such as ip.board or vbulletin is not allowed to be hosted
9. Account cannot be used to store files only (allowed if you upgrade account)
10. Sites related to torrents cannot be hosted (allowed if you upgrade account)

It certainly looks like it is uploading, however as Steve mentioned earlier it may be that your host does not allow txt files (common restriction for free hosting).
I think we need to wait until 'they' have reviewed your site content before we can look further

I have just checked the FAQs for your host and it says they allow any file type, so txt will be fine.
No idea why they have it under review -- seems odd

I think it's just their standard policy for all new sites. The site content won't be a problem, but I don't know how they'll feel about frequent updates.

Ok
Here is their answer. They said that exe and txt files are disabled for security reasons. Oh....I can enable them if I want to have a premium account for a fee. Well I guess I will go with the free account and will look into setting up a server at home. Although I am on a dynamic ip address at home there are ways around that. Thanks for the fast response on this Steve.
