Cumulus 1.9.1 Build 951 Stops Responding
Steve,
I was using 1.9.0 and upgraded to 1.9.1 Build 950 successfully. All was working well yesterday without any glitches, although I avoided using the features that were causing problems. I'm using Win7 and have a WH-1081.
This morning I downloaded and installed 1.9.1 Build 951. After install, Cumulus hung during startup, no matter how many times I tried, including after restarting windows. The diags files are all consistent and have the last line "7/10/2010 09:11:06.992 : 9:11:06 AM EWUSB Form Create" (obviously the times are different). I've attached the diags files.
The only way I can get Cumulus to work is to reinstall 1.9.0, or alternatively, install 1.9.1 951 into another directory (a fresh install). Unfortunately I did not keep a copy of 1.9.1 950 to see if that works.
I tried to get smart and copy my existing cumulus.ini into the freshly install Cumulus folder, but that just causes Cumulus to hang.
Any ideas?
Bob

It's hanging at the point where it asks Windows for a list of all the USB devices.
You say it works with a fresh install - this includes setting the station type, displaying data successfully, restarting etc?

If I delete the cumulus.ini and let Cumulus recreate it and set the station type, then data begins to download and everything is OK. Could the problem be within cumulus.ini?

That would seem to be the case, but I can't think what could be in there that would cause this. Can you let me have your cumulus.ini - the one apparently causing the problem? You could edit out any passwords etc, and/or send it to me by PM.tjaliwalpa wrote:Could the problem be within cumulus.ini?

Re: Cumulus 1.9.1 Build 951 Stops Responding
Steve,
Here is the cumulus.ini. I've compared it to the working version and can't find any errors. I've copied the bulk of the settings across to the working version rather than set it up and it still works. The only strange thing I can see is "LastLoggerDownload=15/04/2009 1:05:22 PM". But even with that in the working version, all seems to be fine. This line is never updated. I've checked the console date and the computer and they are both the same.

Thanks, Bob. The good news is that it also hangs for me using your file, so I should be able to work out what the problem is.

Re: Cumulus 1.9.1 Build 951 Stops Responding
Steve,
Don't know what it is in the cumulus.ini, but I now have 1.9.1 (951) up and running. After getting a clean copy working in another folder and editing cumulus.ini to reflect my settings, I reinstalled 1.9.1 (951) over 1.9.0, reinstated an old backup, copied the cumulus.ini from the working installation before starting Cumulus. Away it went, downloaded the data and everything is fine.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Cumulus 1.9.1 Build 951 Stops Responding
I've found the bug. I've created a potential infinite loop when setting up the graphs. You hit the bug if you disable the wind chill line. I'll get a fix in the next build, but if anyone else gets into this situation before then, a work round is to enable the windchill line by editing the cumulus.ini file:
WCVisible=0
Change that to
WCVisible=1
WCVisible=0
Change that to
WCVisible=1

Re: Cumulus 1.9.1 Build 951 Stops Responding
That explains it. When I started playing with the cumulus.ini that i got working, I left WCVisible=1. The interesting part is that WCVisible=0 worked OK in Build 950.
Another good reason for having us play with Beta versions.

Yes, I changed this code in 951, because I spotted a potential problem. And introduced a new one...tjaliwalpa wrote:The interesting part is that WCVisible=0 worked OK in Build 950.
Indeed. While I do quite a bit of testing myself, I could never hope to try every possibility, so I have to rely on brave guys like yourselfAnother good reason for having us play with Beta versions.
