I see that with my url the degrees symbol is not displaying, although it is displaying ok while viewing captzero's page here http://users.tpg.com.au/captzer0/gauges.htm
Check that you did not change the file format when you saved it. It should be DOS/Windows,ANSI for the scripts, and DOS/Windows,Windows-1252 for the HTML.

Didn't change the file format, used ultraedit to edit the file. tried replacing +" °"+ with + ° + and didn't work, actually the page didn't load.

I did have this issue before and used ° without problems.

Anyway, all the files are in http://members.optusnet.com.au/ktau/wws/gauges if anyone wants to look at them.

Strange!

Strange that the degree symbol does display in the popup header, but not in the text. :?:

I think it is because your webserver does not seem to be honouring the encoding type in the HTML. It is sending it to the browser as UTF-8 encoded. The same page from my server is sent as Windows-1252 as defined in the meta content tag.

The titles are from the language.js and the text displayed in the gauges is from gauges_canvas.js I've no problems (changed the .js files with notepad an saved as ansi) http://www.apeldoorn.tk/wx/gauges/gauges.htm

nitrx wrote: Perhaps there is a solution look in the gauges_canvas.js and search for ° character in +" °"+ repace this with in ° I'm not sure if it wil work anyway the synatx might be + ° +
I have found out that the best replacement for the '°' symbol is NOT the '°' but rather the '°' such as '°C' for '°C' - this hexadecimal replacement seems to work in every scripts I have tried (including graphic ones)...

When I changed +" °"+ to either + ° + or + ° + the page just hung. When I used +'°'+ it displayed the text but the hover worked. see below.

I have replaced the +" °"+ with +" "+ for now.

Gerard, I think you may have to change all your file encodings to UTF-8, if you save them in that format (don't forget to change the meta entry in the html) and the degree symbol 'sticks' when you reopen the files in your editor, then I *think* it should be consistent on your server.

Do you know what Mark? I never noticed the saving format selection. It was saving as "UTF-8 NO BOM" so I selected "UTF-8" and it is amasing, worked a treat. :bash:
As you can see here http://members.optusnet.com.au/ktau/wws ... gauges.htm

I didn't change anything in the html meta tag either, just took the "gauges_canvas.js" from the zip archive, opened it, changed the realtime location saved it (UTF-8), ftp'd it and there ya go. Mystery Solved......

I have way too much to learn, but I am learning.

Thanks to you and everyone else for the help here.

These bindows gauges look promising (and free!), here is a quick rough mock up of a wind speed...

Mark,

Very nice ;)

Are you considering using this style, if so, should I wait for an idiots guide to installing the gauges? By the way, is there an idiots guide for installing your current gauges (sorry if I have already missed it).

Well I am but it may be some time
There is no install guide for the HTML5 gauges as I haven't really released them yet - I just want a few people to test them, if they are OK, then I'll think about it.

Hi Mark,

Had to wait for some rain to get a screen shot. Rain Rate needle isn't working on my gauge. How can I fix?

All other gauges seem to be working well.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Ah, I think I see the problem. Try this version of the script.
gauges_canvas.zip
