Lost files in Vista

Yesterday (4th Oct ) I had a rainfall error. I don't think it was spiders or earwigs as the glitch of rainfall took place at 23.14 yesterday, when from having < 1mm rain it went up to 341.7 mm. Today is back to 0.3 mm which is right. The obvious thing is to change the Oct10log.txt file - the only problem is I can't find it. The laptop is Vista & therefore the Cumulus folder is outside Program Files in Windows Explorer - only I can't find any of the files anywhere to alter them. The program is working quite happily & has been for several months but can't find the files where the data is being stored. Of course it has mucked up my highest rainfall rate, monthly, daily & hourly rates in "Records".I have managed to change highest hourly & highest daily by going into Cumulus /Edit/ All time Records & altering them but the monthly & rainfall rates revert back when it updates
Any ideas please?

Cheers,
Chris

Did you ever have Cumulus installed in Program Files? I wonder if Windows continues to redirect the file to Virtual Store even if you reinstall somewhere else? You could have a look in Virtual Store to see if the file is there. I assume all of your data files are "missing", not just that one?

Hi Steve,
Thanks for that. I have found them - not in a virtual file in Program Files but out in the open on my desktop - don't ask! If things are working OK should I leave them there?

Cheers,
Chris

Presumably you don't have Cumulus installed to your desktop? How are you starting Cumulus - presumably not via the shortcut which the installer creates, but via a shortcut you've created yourself? You have probably not set the working folder in your shortcut (the 'start in' folder) so Windows is using the desktop instead.

If you're happy with that, then fine, but if it were me, I would stop Cumulus, move the files to the correct place, and fix the shortcut (assuming that is indeed the problem).
