Dayfile & Wunderground Help...

Hi All,

As some of you may or may not of been aware, I suffered a server failure and although I am now up and running again, I lost 4 months of recorded data.
Now, this is where I need some help. I have discovered that 'Wunderground' offers a 'Comma Delimited' file download for either a day, month or even year.
I intend to download 'March', 'April', 'May' and 'June' and somehow get my data into my dayfile.txt and All Time Records.
I have no idea how to go about this and if there is a quick way of doing so?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Jason

One possible way would be to import the WU data into Excel (or similar), and then reorder the columns to match the Cumulus order. I don't think it's going to be easy, though, as I imagine you'll have problems with date formats, the units you use, and the fact that the WU data won't fit the Cumulus data very well.

... and there's more ..

Had a quick look-see and there are some strange things with WunderGround.

OK - it seems to give csv data in (provider) local time. however: if you play with the query string you will find that the 1st of the month carries data over to 00:30 next day ?

If you set (page) unit preferences to 'both' csv data is 'English' only.

It is possible to get all data for one day but not two or more - it changes to min /max / ave

If you try xml route only current or 'day' data is available (although it is in two unit standards - which may not be the (Cumulus) units you have choosen eg. knots is not available (pun intended)

date, dec point and delimiters may be different, quite apart from units used and 'sample' rate.

etc. etc. 'tis do-able, I might put together some php as a brain exercise, but don't hold your breath
