Very odd! if you have turned it on, you should get

* * * * Logging Disabled

* * * * Logging Enabled

Then you see it try to communicate with the USB.

Enabled it, and then restart Cumulus, wait 30 second and close down. Don't disable before closing down

hopefully the log will have more content :?

Sorry, ignore the repeat post of the log file.

"Then you see it try to communicate with the USB.

Not sure I understand that last line. Do I connect the station to the computer before or after starting Cumulus?

Ok, Let's start a fresh. ;)

Reboot your PC
Do not start EW or Cumulus
delete the debug.log file in the cumulus folder
Plug in your Weather Console to the PC via the USB
Start Cumulus
Click Configuration and click "Debug Log" so that it is ticked.
Close down Cumulus, wait a few seconds and restart Cumulus
Wait about 30 seconds then close Cumulus back down

Hopefully you debug.log file will contain some data which you can share with us.

Progress! When I run Cumulus, the current temps and winds are shown (not rainfall). The debug.log file is large...I'll copy a few lines (is it possible to attach files here?).

Cumulus debug log
0000.000 : **** Logging Disabled

0028.814 : **** Logging Enabled

0029.656 : 9/23/2010 12:27:00 PM Minute timer 27
0029.656 : Adding LH entry, ts = 12:27:00 PM raintot = 4.57086610794067
0032.667 : 12:27:03 PM USB device is plugged in
0032.667 : 12:27:03 PM request EW data block, written = 9, addr = 000000
0032.682 : 12:27:03 PM EW data line 01 55 AA FF FF FF FF FF FF
0032.698 : 12:27:03 PM EW data line 02 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
0032.698 : 12:27:03 PM EW data line 03 1E 47 04 3D 41 02 00 00
0032.714 : 12:27:03 PM EW data line 04 88 00 00 E0 0A 00 F0 AE

these lines are repeated several times, then this

0089.670 : 9/23/2010 12:28:00 PM Minute timer 28
0089.670 : Adding LH entry, ts = 12:28:00 PM raintot = 4.57086610794067
0089.670 : TD = 0.0833333358168602 Lastval = 4.57086610794067 Firstval = 4.57086610794067 rate = 0
0089.670 : raindiff = 0rainmult = 1

Excellent. Turn your debug log off otherwise it will get huge. You can delete the file too

We just need to wait on some rain then!

We're getting there, but I think there's still a problem (or a lack of knowledge here)

1. When I plugged in my station just now, it downloaded only the 3 data records since I disconnected earlier. The station contains ~2600 records; why aren't they all downloaded?

2. It's been raining all day; my station shows .18" today, but Cumulus shows 0.

Yes, that did it. I think I'm saturated for now; I need to absorb these lessons. I think everything is working OK, so many thanks for your help.
