Stuck on downloading data

Apologies in advance if this has been covered before - I have done a search in the forum and can not find a specific reason for my problem.
Having fired up Cumulus yesterday after an ill-timed power cut ( as they all are ! ) the Downloading Data box pops up and that's just about how far it gets.
I suspect there is some corruption of the .ini file (?) but in reality I have not got a clue.
Perhaps there is someone in here that can help.
Thanks in advance
Graeme

How long did you leave it? It may think that it needs to download the entire contents of the logger, which can take quite some time. You can either look at your september log file and see how far back it needs to go, and then edit the timestamp in today.ini accordingly, so it only tries to go back that far, or leave it longer - it could take 20 minutes for a full logger download - or zip up the diags folder and attach it and I'll see what it thinks it's doing.

You seem to have some sort of USB problem, or some problem with your station. It's being detected on the USB, but it's not responding to requests for data. I'm not really sure what you need to do to wake it up - I guess a full reset might do it, but then you would lose any data in the logger. If it's a USB problem then unplugging and replugging it before starting Cumulus might do the trick, or possibly even rebooting your PC.

Cheers Steve - will do some fiddling and let you know the outcome - don't thing the reboot of PC will have any effect though as it was off overnight and the problem persisted.

Steve, you are a genius !
I have the station plugged in via a USB extension, which has worked fine until now, just took it out of the loop and magic the data download started and completed.
Many many thanks

I have the problem of Cumulus saying "Wait - downloading data" - but it never does complete the task
Cumulus closed down normally yesterday but presented this problem first thing this morning
I can download wx data on the same computer with the same usb cable and wx station when use Easy Weather program
The Cumulus problem looks to be the first data block read - which starts with bytes 02 AA instead of 55 AA - how do I fix that?
Either Easy Weather is not fussy about the block start bytes or Cumulus corrupts the data - but only the first byte?
Have attached a notepad file with comparison data

According to the 'spec' I have, such that it is, the first two bytes have to be 55 AA to indicate that the station has been initialised properly. But I'm afraid I don't know what you need to do to get it to that state. I'm not party to the information that the Easyweather developers have. I assume some sort of reset is required.

Thanks Steve
A reset of the weather station fixed the situation - however before I attempted that I wanted to make sure that there was not another way of dealing with the problem
Looking closer at Easy Weather pgm it appears even it was not recording data despite the read record counter incrementing and rain calculations etc.
I don't use Ez Wx program, just left it on the computer after initial installation of the station - Cumulus is THE wx program
Obviously something else had corrupted the wx station tables between time of Cumulus shutdown and restart
Thanks for your input
Brian
