Badge Engineering: Is a 2080 Effectively a 1080?

Hello everyone - I've recently subscribed to this entertaining forum, and am enjoying using the Cumulus software very much indeed.

As a newbie I have quite a lot of questions, as you might expect, but will start with the one which puzzles me most. I am almost certain that my weather station, recently purchased from eBay, is an Easy Weather 1080 - at any rate, that's what I've configured Cumulus to recognise it as and this seems to work well enough. However, the display unit is branded as "Smart Weather" and at the rear carries the annotation "Model: WH2080". Am I right in assuming that these things carry a whole range of names and serial numbers but are effectively identical from a technical point of view, so my configuration of the WH2080 as a 1080 isn't going to screw up the data it's collecting?

Yes; from a software point of view these stations are identical. There are dozens of them. The 2080 and its clones seem to have been given a facelift compared to the 1080 etc, but as far as Cumulus is concerned it can't tell the difference.
