Re: Web site activation
Great.
What you now need to do is use your web site editing software (the one you used to create your main site) -- I think you said it was "Web Page Maker"
The button on the left, labelled "Weather" needs to have it's link (URL) changed to ....

Re: Web site activation
Hi David
Sorry about the last message forgot to save it.
The only thing left now is to supperimpose my buttons or at least a back to main page button.
If we can't use the complete cumulus page with my control buttons I assume another solution would be to but a few instructions on my page asto how to use it.
Regards
Jerry

There are a number of ways we can get back to your main site. The easiest is probably to add a "Home" option to the Cumulus pages. Cumulus creates the six pages and uploads these to the web each time it does an update. It uses 'template' files to do this, so you need to modify each of the template files.
I would suggest a simple text entry in keeping with the style of the Cumulus site, rather than adding a button as per your main site.
You need to edit each of the following files in the Cumulus web folder on your PC
indexT.htm
gaugesT.htm
todayT.htm
yesterdayT.htm
recordsT.htm
trendsT.htm
Edit each of the files in Notepad or some other text editor (not Word or WordPad). near the very end of the file your will see something like this...
Code: Select all
<td colspan="4" class="td_navigation_bar">:<a href="index.htm">now</a>::<a href="gauges.htm">gauges</a>::<a href="today.htm">today</a>::<a href="yesterday.htm">yesterday</a>::<a href="record.htm">records</a>::<a href="trends.htm">trends</a>:<#forum><#webcam></td><td colspan="4" class="td_navigation_bar">:<a href="/index.htm">Home</a>::<a href="index.htm">now</a>::<a href="gauges.htm">gauges</a>::<a href="today.htm">today</a>::<a href="yesterday.htm">yesterday</a>::<a href="record.htm">records</a>::<a href="trends.htm">trends</a>:<#forum><#webcam></td>
I have highlighted the section in red that I added.
Do this change for each of the six "xxxxT.htm" files. Then get Cumulus to do a Web Update
(maybe you just want to make the change to the indexT.htm file first to test it)
One problem I do see is that you open the weather pages in a new window; you should avoid this if you can otherwise people will end up with your main site open, then another window for the weather. If they then click "home" on the weather page, it will open a second copy of your main site in the new window.

Re: Web site activation
Or... you could integrate Cumulus data within pages like your existing ones...

Re: Web site activation
Oh... I feel like I'm interfering now
The web pages that you create for yourself are no different to the 'templates' supplied with Cumulus. Basically, you create an ordinary html web page, but where you want Cumulus to insert actual data, you use a 'web tag', which is a placeholder to represent the data. Look in indexT.htm and you should get the idea. A full list of web tags is in the help and the wiki.
Having created a web page, you tell Cumulus to upload it by listing it in the 'files' tab of the internet settings page. You tell Cumulus where the file is on your PC (it can be anywhere) and tell it where to put it on your ftp server by giving it a full path name. You need to tick 'process' to get Cumulus to convert the tags into data, and 'ftp' to get it to ftp the file.

Re: Web site activation
Steve's solution is a better one, if you understand a little of how to do a website. My solution was a quick and dirty one lol
Be careful when using your web site editor (Web Page Maker) as it may change the < and > of the Cumulus tags.
