Web site activation

Post by DOC »

Hi All
I have run Cumulus for about 3 months now without a hitch GREAT. So pleased was I that I set about building a basic website on the basis that my site would display my weather, and that works OK. I included a page for weather within the build which was left basically blank.
I then uploaded everythig as detailed in Cumulous web set up but my problem is, how do you link the Cumulous files to my page and get it to load active data updates.,
I have read and re-read the instructions but I think I am missing something like a bit of code or something that I need to insert. I have tried most of the things I have found in the FAQ but to no avail.
Can anybody point me in the right direction bearing in mind my very limited knowledge of website building.
Regards

Welcome to the forum.

Could you post a link to your main website and also to the Cumulus pages, then we can get an idea on your current site design and offer some help

thanks

Hi David

Thanks for your offer of help, I think you missed the bit about being a website dumbo, if you would kindly indicate exactly what information you require I will attempt to send it to you
My site is hosted on Pickaweb and I built it using Web Page Maker. The address is 2u0bge.co.uk.
Please let me know what else will help you help me. I am quite happy to send you all the logon information if it helps.

Don't worry about being a "dumbo" (your word!). Everyone needs to start somewhere.

Let's see what we can do to help.

So your website is http://www.2u0bge.co.uk When I visit the address I can see a button on the left for Weather, which I assume you want to then show the Cumulus weather pages. That will be easy enough.

What we need to know now is how far you have got with confgiuring Cumulus to create the pages on your website.

Again, I am guessing, but it looks like you have uploaded some 'core' cumulus files to a folder called 'weather'. That is a good start.

We now need to tell Cumulus to add its data to this folder.

On the Cumulus Wiki site I have a doc which may help. See the section on Configuration....
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Simple_Web ... figuration That is what you now need to do.

what software did you use to upload the core files? That data you used in that software will be what Cumulus also needs

Hi David

Well so far so good. The details in Cumulus web setup were fine and when I tested it it went through a loading cycle and finished with the line logging out, it never said complete or anything like that.
That was the good bit, when I looked in my site via my browser I still had nothing on my weather page. I don't understand what tells cumulus to send the files to this particular page within my site.
I loaded the files up using the host file loading system within Pickaweb but I think that I can see tha they could have been loaded from the Cumulus website setup files screen is that correct.
If its any use I could send you my host access info off forum for you to see whats happening. I find the relationship between my site and the file structure hard to follow

Something is not quite right as the files Cumulus creates are not where I would epxect them

Can you send me a screen shot of the Config. page of Cumulus. If you are happy, you can send me a PM (private message) with your host details and I can tell you the exact details to put in Cumulus

Jerry

Within the Internet Settings in Cumulus, change the Directory to

public_html/weather

and try again

If Cumulus is able to upload correctly, check this web address

http://www.2u0bge.co.uk/weather/index.htm

If this works we can then link it to your main site
