Authentication Required

Since launching my site qcycweather.info a few weeks ago I've noticed a regular message (Authentication Required) that pops up asking for log-in information. Talked to my web hosting company (GoDaddy) and the only idea they had was that a script might be causing the issue. I'm running Cumulus 1.8.9 under Vista. This morning I narrowed the issue down to clicking on either the "gauges" or "trends" pages. Only when I click on these two pages do I get the message. The other pages do not seem to generate the message.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Both of those pages have javascript on them, but I'm not aware of anyone ever getting anything such as you describe. Could you supply a link to your web site?

It looks as though there are some strange file permissions.
eg.
http://www.qcycweather.info/realtime.txt, and
http://www.qcycweather.info/images/rainsm.png
whereas
http://www.qcycweather.info/images/rain.png is visible (so it
shouldn't be a directory permissions problem.)

Yes, beteljuice had somehow worked that out. I can't add any more to what he has said; it's clearly nothing to do with scripts, it's some sort of permissions problem on your server. Have you perhaps uploaded some files manually?
Edit: Oh, I see how beteljuice managed to work out the URL; he can
