Cumulus Support

I've been using a WS1080 for 2 weeks with Cumulus v1.90 as of today.
I had already created the strings.ini file in the c:\cumulus installation folder.
The forecast in Cumulus never changes from Exceptional Weather, Stormy, much precipitation,
and didn't in the earlier version either.
Any suggestions are welcome.

This indicates that the calculation has gone 'off the scale' and is normally a result of incorrect pressure extremes. Have you mismatched the values and the units?

Here are the settings in cumulus. ini

All settings for the display are in/hr & in

You've changed the pressure extreme units to 'in' but left the values in mb, so you've effectively told it that your normal pressure range is 950 to 1050 inches of mercury.

Steve, I seem to get screwy forecasts as well. I'm not sure I understand what the string should look like. Mine are below:

UseCumulusForecast=1
UseCumulusPresstrendstr=1
FCpressinMB=0
FClowpress=28.7999992370605
FChighpress=31
ForceVPBarUpdate=0

Is this correct?

You've chosen inches for the units, but have correctly matched the supplied values, so your range is 28.8 in Hg to 31 in Hg, or 975 to 1050 mb/hPa. So as long as your pressure never goes outside that range you shouldn't see the 'exceptional weather' forecast, if that's what you mean by "screwy".

What should it be set to and where do I change that - in the text file I copied this from? Honestly, I don't remember ever setting these values. I thought they were recorded from all time lows and highs of pressure readings???????

What I meant by screwy is like yesterday we had hot, dry, sunny weather and if I remember right, the forecast on Cumulus said "Precipitation at frequent intervals." That just seemed a little off to me. Maybe I don't understand what the "forecast" means and what its purpose is.

They're set in the forecast settings in the bottom right hand corner of the station settings. You must have set them, because the default looks like this:

I can't help you very much there. This comes up from time to time and I really wish I hadn't included it, but I gave in to pressure to include something. So I simply 'stole' the code from beteljuice (a Cumulus user). It's a software representation of a device called a Zambretti Forecaster. Some people seem to find it useful, others less so.

I've always found the forecast feature to be pretty accurate, even more so now since I opted to enable to update once an hour option.

In no way should you apologize for anything you've put in the software. You are so far over most of our heads and I for one am VERY appreciative of your work and continued "upkeep" for the software and users. Thanks for the help.
