Feature/future requests

Steve,

please don't treat as a urgent request, but rather, as things to consider in the future (C2?).

I have to say that I have just started using Cumulus. I use it with WS-3215 (serial) and with National Geographic (Thermor) 265NC (USB).

- Start-up and shut-down
If the w/s is not connected (this is especially evident with a serial connection), the C1 s/w seems to hang. It is not possible to kill it, even by trying to kill its process. Maybe a time-out (60s ?) would be in order.

- Main screen
The main screen tries to show too much information. Almost anything one needs to know is there, but you have to read carefully all the details. If I could suggest displaying some of the data as graphics (e.g. rain) and the main temperature and humidity (inside and out) with much bigger font. With my LaCrosse WS-2315 i used to run their heavy Weather. It displays the main data quite well. It has a bad habit to use a lot of processor cycles, so i switched to your s/w, especially since I am running it on a very low-end laptop.

- Select-a-graph
If you select a graph, the start and stop time points stay the same for the entire Cumulus session. I like the option to customise the graph, but I would like to be able to see the period move with time. Or simply having a button to update the timestamps.

- some identification/information about upload status
My main point for running the Cumulus s/w is to upload the weather data to Weather Underground. Would it be possible to have some indicator that the data is going up? At the moment one has to enable logging and check the log for errors.

- Behaviour if data is not available from the w/s
At the moment, Cumulus assumes that the data has not changed if the w/s does not have the connection to the sensors (e.g. if the radio link failed). This means that the uploaded data (and what is displayed on the screen) looks like everything is working, only data is not changing. If there was no previous data; Cumulus assumes 0 (zero) as the value.
Would it be possible to distinguish between no data and zero and no new data?

That's it for now.

thanks for putting it all together.

Marek

Thanks for the suggestions; I think most have been suggested before at one time or another, and hopefully I can eventually address some or all of them in C2.
