realtime.txt not being generated

5 days ago (18th) Cumulus stopped genereating the realtime.txt file - I have checked and it is definately switched on in internet settings as per the Help file - it was set up to generate every 5 seconds. I tried changing this to 10 seconds but still no go. Cumulus has been stopped, restarted and the server it si running on even rebooted tonight to ensure it had started up correctly (which it has as it is generting all other files and connecting to WxEunderground etc without any problems.

On the 18th I know I had been altering the files Cumulus generates for me because this was whenI implemented to external menu files to be included - so Cumulus now, for me, generates .shtml files (and, again - all are working properly).

Any thoughts on what I can check to see why this is failing? It isn't an FTP transfer as Cumulus is running on the same physical machine the web server is running on. I turned the debug log on tonight before I rebooted but it doesn't give me a date stamp that is readable, only a time stamp - but even so, there are no apparent generation or copy failures I can see.

Any thoughts on how I can track down why this has suddenly stopped working after working OK for nearl 3 weeks?

Is the realtime.txt file not even being created in the Cumulus folder? If you're not using FTP, how are you getting the realtime.txt file to where it needs to be? There is currently a limitation in Cumulus where there is no option to have a realtime.txt file created but not sent somewhere by FTP.

Ahhh you've just answered the question. Yes - it is being generated and now I remember what I had to do when I first started using Cumulus - because it is a local machine I have to get the file transferred explicitly as Cumulus doesn't or won;t accept a copy rather than an FTP and 5 days ago I was playing around and used all 10 slots for copies (which was another problem).

You can copy the realtime.txt file as well as FTPing it (assuming there's a free slot) but not instead of. There's an enhancement request for this, and I actually started to do the changes and then realised it was a lot harder than I thought, so it's deferred for now.

Hmmm interesting because I am not FTP'ing anything - I merely copy all the files - so am I doing something the program shouldn't be doing or have I misunderstood:
You can copy the realtime.txt file as well as FTPing it (assuming there's a free slot) but not instead of

If you're not doing any ftp at all, i.e you haven't supplied an ftp host and/or username+password, then it will indeed just create the realtime.txt file without needing to ftp it anywhere.

The missing option is where you have supplied ftp details for 'normal' ftp and want a realtime.txt file to be created but don't want it to be uploaded by ftp. It sounds as though that doesn't apply in your case as you're not doing ftp at all. So, given a free slot, you should be able to get Cumulus to copy the realtime.txt file somewhere.

Yes - this is what I had been doing and, now I have added the copy to the list of files to copy, it is working OK again.

I guess I am not understanding your statement about
You can copy the realtime.txt file as well as FTPing it (assuming there's a free slot) but not instead of.
- I read that as meaning I can ONLY copy the file IF I have FTP turned on - and that you have an enhancement request to change this somehow.

Not an issue for me as I now have it working again though.

My statement was missing an "if you have ftp turned on". If you do have ftp turned on, you can't specify that you don't want the realtime.txt ftping as you can with the other standard files.

Ahh OK - no problems then, now it makes sense to me.
