Cannot open file "C:\Cumulus\data\dayfile.txt". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Something prevented Cumulus from writing to the dayfile.txt file. You can recover by restarting using the latest backup from before the problem.

On the 21st. The entry in dayfile.txt for a particular day is done at the end of that day.

As soon as you restart from a backup from before midnight on the 19th so that Cumulus re-downloads the data from the logger for the period crossing midnight on the 19th.

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it I'll have a look to see what happened.

I can't work out which is the run where you started form a backup. The nearest is this:

8/20/2010 10:58:16.897 : Read today file: Date = 8/20/2010, LastUpdateTime = 8/19/2010 11:58:00 PM

But I don't understand why the date was the 20th, it should have been the 19th. And from the other logs I can't see where that backup would have come from - the last update time doesn't fit with any of them.

But anyway, if that is the run where you started from a backup, you still have the problem where something is preventing Cumulus writing to the dayfile.txt file:

8/20/2010 10:58:46.287 : VP2: processing logger data entry 1 for 8/20/2010
8/20/2010 10:58:46.287 : VP2: Day rollover 8/20/2010
8/20/2010 10:58:46.287 : === Day reset for 8/20/2010
8/20/2010 10:58:46.288 : VP2: Error in VP2 data: Cannot open file "C:\Cumulus\data\dayfile.txt". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

This all sounded very familiar, and having checked I see we had an almost identical discussion back in June. So presumably you didn't work out what was causing the problem back then? If you don't do so, this will keep happening.

I'm going to add some code to handle this better, and log the failed dayfile.txt entry to the diags logs (and flash the error light). So, when it happens, (a) Cumulus won't crash, and (b) the missing entry will be in the diags log so you can just cut&paste it out of there.

If you restart from a backup from before midnight on the 19th, or (as I said in the previous thread) rewind all of the files manually back to before that time, then start Cumulus, then assuming you don't hit the problem again, it will correct all of the data.

I'm sorry, I can't make any sense of that. Do you mean how can you find out what is preventing Cumulus from writing to the file? I wish I knew. Anti-virus, or something similar, or perhaps you have set something up which uses dayfile.txt?
