WH1080 / WH1090 differences

After contemplating constructing / purchasing a W.S. for more years than I care to admit (my first plans involved a BBC Micro
) I think I'm about to be tempted by one of the 'cheap and cheerful' Fine Offset products - it looks as if it could give me a lot of fun until such a time when I could contemplate something a bit better.
Maplins have a good offer on the WH1080 at present - but I'm aware that this has now been superseded by the WH1090.
Some research on this forum revealed some old posts which seem to indicate that the only difference between the two is a receiver console which has better (and adjustable) contrast.
Since I would intend to run Cumulus and access the info on-line most of the time, I probably am not too bothered with the poor contrast of the 1080 console if that really is the only difference - it doesn't seem worth paying another £25 for the 1090.
Can anyone confirm whether or not there are any other differences between the two models - or otherwise compare and contrast functionality / reliability?
Thanks
Phil
