Ambient Weather's Solar Shield
When you buy a Fine Offset from Ambient Weather here in the USA, they offer an optional solar shield. Here is a picture of the original sitting on top of the bracket of the larger, optional solar shield.

Re: Ambient Weather's Solar Shield
Dan, when I bought it with the WS-2080 it was $29. I think it is $39 by itself.
Here is the link.

I know there are a lot of threads on google on making a home built.
What I wanted to show here was the difference in size.

Re: Ambient Weather's Solar Shield
Would a bunch of pie plates stacked up with spacers between be as effective?
Cut the centres out of the bottom 8 or so plates and fasten with long stainless steel bolts? I suppose one would have to take into account the thermal conductivity of the the pie plates though
Maybe aluminum wouldn't be the best.

looks a bit like my BBQ setting shield. I ran out pf plates though and had to resort to bowls.

Would you, by any chances, be referring to this thread: Home built FARS...sanramonrover wrote:Would a bunch of pie plates stacked up with spacers between be as effective?Cut the centres out of the bottom 8 or so plates and fasten with long stainless steel bolts? Nope, hadn't seen that thread. I thought I was just being funny

Well, it has been done with what appears to be plastic picnic bowls... Too bad it had to be painted white...sanramonrover wrote:Nope, hadn't seen that thread. I thought I was just being funnywith the suggestion of pie plates. Guess not.
