Data log interval, Weather interval and Rapid Fire

I was reading through the help section in Cumulus and then took a look at EasyWeather.

I am not sure what the relationship is between Data log interval in Cumulus, and the Easy Weather interval. More accurately, I really don't know what these interval do.

I know the sensors sends out their information every 48 seconds on the WS-2080. I am guessing that Cumulus or EW set at an interval of ten minutes will ask the station for data every ten minutes.

How do these intervals effect Rapid Fire used on Wunderground?

The way Easyweather works is that its log is effectively a copy of the station log, so it just downloads the logger data periodically and stores it. So the EW log interval is the station interval. Cumulus logs its data independently of the station interval, while it's running. The station log interval comes into play if Cumulus has been stopped for any length of time, and has to catch up using the logger data. In that situation, it simply makes one log entry for each station logger entry, so they come out at the station logger interval.

I don't know how often EW reads the station data, but Cumulus reads it every 10 seconds. It doesn't know when the 48-second update is going to happen, so the 10-second interval is a compromise between getting the updated data reasonably soon after it's available and not taking up too much processor time constantly checking for new data. Cumulus treats each 10-second read of the data as if it were new data.

They're not connected; Cumulus updates WU every 5 seconds if rapid fire is selected.

Thanks for explanation. Really interesting stuff.

Then it would be good to just use 10min interval setting for both Cumulus and EW.

Yes, that would be a good choice.
