New web page not being uploaded - why?

I've exhausted my limited knowledge on this problem and am seeking some help please.

I've modified a copy of todayT.htm and included extra columns to include yesterday's data. Despite adding it to the files to be processed it isn't being processed or uploaded. I ticked Processed and FTP columns.

I can't see why it isn't working. I've tried naming it todyesT.htm (as a template) and todyes.htm as a normal html file.

When I perform a manual web update it isn't being included so I copied it manually to the web server but when I visit http://www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk/todyes.htm it just shows the tags, not the results.

Any help appreciated.

Are you aiming for a modified 'today' page, or an additional one? If the former, just editing the existing todayT.htm file should do it - you don't need to add it to the files list; the only reason I can think of why that wouldn't work would be if your modified page was causing the page processor some problems; this would also explain why adding it as a new file in the files list was also failing.

If you zip up your modified page and attach it, I'll have a look at it.

Edit: Actually, you don't need to attach it, I'll get that copy you've uploaded to your web site.

No brilliant ideas Ray, it looks similar to my todat/yesterday page http://weather.wilmslowastro.com/today.htm. I did just as you seem to have done, created a new template file, and added this to the internet files to be processed, and FTP'd.

Only suggestions I can make are: is the template specified as a full path, have you included any root directory in the remote filename.

I've used your file and it works fine: http://sanday.org.uk/weather/todyes.htm

I can only think that as Mark has suggested, you haven't put a full remote pathname in. You need to add the same to the front of the file name as you have in the 'directory box in the standard ftp settings.

Thank you Mark and Steve. Guess what I hadn't done? Entered the remote path\filename. I didn't think I needed it. I thought Cumulus just took the file I pointed to and uploaded it and knew where to put it from the settings.

Yes Mark. I pinched the idea from your site. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! It's so handy being able to easily compare today's weather with yesterday's.

I intend to replace todayT.htm with this new file once I've worked out how to show Today and Yesterday as a new row and with the words aligned above the respective data. I might look at Mark's to see how he's done it.

Thanks chaps, great service as usual. :D

Ray,

I too have created a page to compare Today to Yesterday. Have a look at my layout at http://www.synewave.co.uk/gcsweather/todayyesterday.php and if you want just look at the source and copy it if you want.

Thanks Paul. I'd love to have the skills to produce a web site as good as yours. It looks excellent.

You may have noticed I've now updated my pages to include a today/yesterday page. I've bookmarked your site and hope to learn from it.

Many thanks Ray for the compliment.

I must say though, before I came across Cumulus in Dec 2009, I had zero HTML skills. It really is thanks to Steve's great Cumulus package including the web templates that gave me the inspiration to really 'play' with and learn HTML. Along the way now, I've learnt some Javascript and PHP too, with help from other forum members.

So, if you want any help to implement anything I have, just ask (or just take it!).

Thanks for the offer of help Paul. I have started learning HTML via some excellent websites but have yet to venture into CSS although I understand their purpose. My PHP skills only extend as far as slightly modifying the banner in my signature.

I've modified my today/tomorrow page and that seems to have worked okay but it was made more difficult by Dreamweaver's insistence on removing the < and > characters from some tags I copied and pasted. Grrgghh!

I have a couple of books that I hope will help lift the fog but if I need help I'll certainly take you up on your kind offer.
