Dayfile log

Post by serowe »

I can't find any mention of this in the Help, Wiki or here on the forum - if I have missed it, apologies.

WRT the dayfile.txt log file - does this file get 'rolled over' or do you keep adding to it forever? I know the <mon><year>log.txt files are a monthly detailed log, but I am presuming, as there is no mention of it anywhere else, that dayfile.txt is a continuous records of daily extremes/averages without regard to the month or year.

If this is the case - does Cumulus make use of this file in any other way that writing it? ie is it read at any time for resetting/adjustment of extremes/records? So, if I have historical daily data, is it of any benefit adding it into the dayfile.txt log other than for just localising a text version of the stations history?

You mention, elsewhere, about V2 using a database for storage of data - do you have any further information available on that as yet? (knowing that V2 is still under development and the concrete hasn't set yet :) )
Punctuation is the difference between 'Let's eat, grandma' and 'Let's eat grandma'

That's correct.

It uses the recent entries in the file for drawing some of the graphs. It also uses the file for some of the information in the 'this month' etc displays.

What do you want to know? It uses an SQLite database. The structure of the database in the next alpha release will be very similar to the structure in the current alpha release. There's an extra table - there's a long thread in the Cumulus 2 section discussing this extra table - it contains time 'offsets' for the high/low data.
