FWICalc decimal separator...

Hi weather enthusiast!

After reading carefully the related posts in this forum, I install and run sucessfully the FWICalc app from http://www.wilddata.org.nz/fwicalc/index.php?page=9 (Thanks the author for your great program!); but I discovered that only accepts the period "." as decimal separator.

This certanly complicates some things because in my country the standart decimal separator is the comma "," and the stations in our network stations are configured to follow this rule.

There is any workaround for this issue?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any problem with you asking here, but wouldn't you get a better answer from the author of FWICalc? Or have I misunderstood your question?

Like I said, I don't mind you asking the question here. And if you've already tried the FWICalc author with no luck then maybe someone here can indeed help.

I'm afraid I know nothing at all about FWICalc, but if you use Cumulus web tags with it, there are a set of tags which always use decimal points, if that's any help: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Webtags#No_Commas

Hi there, I'm Graeme Kates, the author of FWI Calc. Decided to set up account here, as most of my current Q&A seem to come from Cumulus Users...

I have been away, and don't sit in forums or on my email constantly - so sorry haven't answered yet - I will look at this issue, theoretically the "decimal separator" should automatically adapt to however you have your windows system setup; but obviously it doesn't (just check you don't have a conflict of using the "," to separate "fields" in the input file (use something else (I always find a "Line Feed" is the best default).

I will look at this issue tonight and see if I can provide a "patch" or "workaround" - I can feel another new release coming however...

Just be aware that FWI Calc is a hobby program, that is offered as is, just to share something I developed many years ago; it has many issues :bash: that as I find time and inspiration slowly get sorted - so please be patient out there. I'll keep an eye on this forum in future for any issues raised (as they certainly are not that of the Cumulus Software developer). Alternatively email me .. gk4@softrock.co.nz and I promise I'll respond, hopefully with a solution.

Cheers - Graeme -

Hello Graeme,
theoretically the "decimal separator" should automatically adapt to however you have your windows system setup;
That's how Cumulus works, too. I can't claim it was intentional in my case, it 'just happened'.
(just check you don't have a conflict of using the "," to separate "fields" in the input file (use something else (I always find a "Line Feed" is the best default).
On systems which use a comma for a decimal separator, the default is normally a semicolon for a list separator, which works well.
I will look at this issue tonight and see if I can provide a "patch" or "workaround" - I can feel another new release coming however...
Thanks, I'm sure that will be appreciated :)
